The father of Lee McAllister has revealed his son's horrific injuries after a Crete motorbike accident.
Speaking from his son's hospital room last night, David McAllister said Lee has a broken jaw and cheekbone, 100 stitches to a cut in his leg, and was floating in and out of consciousness. A spokeswoman for Heraklion General Hospital in Crete, where the 21-year-old Scot is being treated, also confirmed the fighter had his spleen removed after last week's crash on the Greek island.
Mr McAllister said he was not concerned what the injuries could mean for his son's boxing future.
"The main thing is to get him home to Aberdeen and back to health," he said.
"We don't know exactly how long that will be.
"But I'll be staying here with him until he is up and walking and ready to come home."
One of the boxer's friends, a girl from Sheffield, where he trains under the Ingles, was also badly injured in the accident.
Mr McAllister said: "Lee can't remember a thing about what happened but, having spoken to other people, they think he has been the victim of a hit-and-run accident."
The girl, who was on the back of the bike, is understood to have said she thought they were hit twice. They are believed to have been lying injured by the roadside for about 90 minutes before they were noticed.
Lee is 13-1 as a pro light-welter and holds the British Masters title.

This is sadly all too common an occurance with British holidaymakers abroad.
You can hire a scooter for next to nothing and be off up the road in less than 10 minutes with no helmet, no experience or local knowledge and even carry a pillion. People are asking to get knocked off in my opinion.
People seem to develop the belief that because they're on holiday nothing bad will happen to them, they need to switch on, use their brain for a minute and come to the obvious conclusion that if they don't know how to ride a scooter properly and/or have no local knowledge, don't bother renting one. It's not worth it.
I've been riding motorcycles since I was 10, and still have a lot to learn. What's more you're so exposed it's unreal, I know so many lads and lasses who were/are decent bikers that are now gimpers, or even worse, dead, because car drivers "didn't see them" or "mis-read their intentions" or whatever.

Today Lee's dad, David, said his son was "feeling a lot better".
He said: "I saw him this morning and he is a lot happier.
"He has suffered very serious injuries but we hope to have him home in three of four days time.
"Hopefully we will be able to take him back to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he can recuperate.
"Everyone has been great over here and the treatment he is receiving is first-class but the language barrier is proving to be a problem."
Lee and one of his friends, a girl from Sheffield, were found lying by the roadside in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The young woman is also being treated in hospital for serious head injuries.
