Carl Froch has issued a missing persons appeal

WBC Super Middleweight champ Carl Froch has issued a missing persons appeal on behalf of former World middleweight champ, and the current mandatory challenger for his title Jermain Taylor.

Froch believes that Taylor has gone into hiding as he looks for a way out of fighting the Cobra who was crowned WBC champ after a fight of the year thriller with Jean Pascal in December.

“Taylor calls himself “Bad Intentions” but if you ask me it should be “No Intentions” because I don’t think he has any intentions of fighting me,” said Froch.

“At this rate the only thing he’s going to win any time soon is the world hide and seek title. If anyone’s seen him lately I’d be very interested to hear about his whereabouts. I’m guessing that he’s probably at home in bed with his head under the covers waiting until an easier fight comes along.

“Purse bids for the fight are due on Friday but there’s been a deafening silence from Jermain about the fight. You can draw your own conclusions on why that is. Look what happened last year, he ducked out of a vacant WBC title fight with me when he could have had a 50 – 50 share of the purses and instead fought in an eliminator so there’s definitely a track record there.

“His own promoter has admitted publicly that they don’t have too many attractive options right now and yet there still running from the only fight that means anything on the world scene – a fight for the most prestigious belt in boxing.

“I’ve always believed that Taylor doesn’t really have the heart for battle anyway, he has all the physical tools required to be a great fighter but he likes to fight in a comfort zone. When you step into that ring with me there’s no comfort zone and there’s no hiding place.”

Froch’s promoter, Mick Hennessy also feels there’s a reluctance on Taylor’s part to step up to the plate. “I believe Lou DiBella and Taylor are trying to walk away from this fight and look for the exit door. I’ve made a formal $1.6 million offer to Taylor’s promoter Lou DiBella for him to fight Carl Froch in the U.K. in April. It would be a massive fight over here and that offers on the table right now so we can either do a deal or we can wait for the purse bids on Friday.

“Lou has been talking about the offer he’s made but what about the offer that I’ve made? Lou is trying to make this a take it or leave it situation but Carl is the champion, not Taylor and in my opinion he needs to respect that and the WBC purse bid process if it comes to that.

“If we can’t agree a deal beforehand then I know that Carl is happy to accept the outcome of the purse bids regardless of where the fight ends up.”

Well, Taylor said the other day "That's what boxing's all about, winning the title." Taylor isn't exactly going onto something big, not if he's fighting Allan Green. A lot of ppl lose out when these fights can't be made.

The championships do mean something. Surely the WBC will just put someone else forward. Thankfully the WBC's rankings are good at 168. So therecan be good fights for the belt.

In this case, Froch must stay active, get in the headlines, and keep on plugging away over the long haul and keep on looking impressive.

Best thing Froch can do is fight anyone ranked, even if it means fighting Nikolai Bollockov or someother ranked WBC fighter it's got to be better than sitting around waiting for the big fights to come along. Because if he just hangs around dreaming about a fight with Calzaghe like Witter did with Hatton then he's going to go stale very soon. Even if he has to travel to Germany or France to get a fight then he might as well just to keep active.

Michael Marley was interviewed on Bunceys show yesterday and he admitted that there's only one side interested in making this fight and it ain't Taylors. Marley had previously bee backing Taylor by releasing the 'Froch is out til June' article. Marley also reckons that a Froch-Kessler showdown is looking likely in the next 12 months (Marley is supposedly Kesslers agent)

Taylor is probably going to fight Allan Green.

It might not be easy being Green but at least the super middleweight contender Allan Green is about to get a national TV March 28 on Showtime.

The Oklahoma fighter won't have to travel far, either, as he will fight WBC top contender and former champion Jermain Taylor in a Lou DiBella-promoted doubleheader in St. Louis. Taylor will bring some fans from his home area of Little Rock but the show can sell out solely on the strength of the intracity top bout pitting Cory Spinks against DeAndre Latimore.

As far as Taylor fighting newly-crowned WBC champ Carl Froch, as Boxingconfidential has continually reported, that is a non-starter. A WBC purse bid for that bout Friday will be an empty exercise involving empty envelopes.

Word is the WBC will leave Taylor in the top spot, pending the result against Green, in hopes of making Taylor-Forch later this year.

Meanwhile, IBF super middle king Lucian Bute makes an optional defense against Fulgencio Zuniga in Montreal Mach 13 for promoter Interbox.

Sauerland Event pressured Interbox to have Bute put his crown on the line against either Mads Larsen or Vitaliy Tsypko.

Figure "Frochie" to now look for an optional defense in his home city of Nottingham come April.

Taylor has an inflated sense of his own worth. He wants the big bucks but is happy fighting the likes of Green and Lacy until the money and belts land in his lap. He wasn't so interested in a legacy when he was labouring over the likes of Cory Spinks and Kasim Ouma.
