Best Fighter --- Per Continent?

Post by Goodnight, Irene »

I thought we could get a decent discussion going on this --- who would you nominate as the best fighter, per continent?

Africa - ?
Antarctica - n/a
Asia - ?
Australia - ?
Europe - ?
North America - ?
South America - ?

Some names swirling around off the top of my head would be Azumah Nelson, Carlos Monzon, Eder Jofre, Jimmy Carruthers, Jeff Fenech, Lionel Rose, Kostya Tszyu, Flash Elorde, Fighting Harada, Manny Pacquiao, Khaosoi Galaxy, Marcel Cerdan, Ray Robinson, etc, etc. Nominees, gents?

Note: Central America is excluded from the discussion.

Africa - Azumah Nelson or Marcel Cerdan, probably give the nod to Nelson
Antarctica - n/a
Asia - Manny Pac
Australia - Les Darcy
Europe - Jimmy Wilde
North America - Probably Ray Robinson, though Sam Langford runs him damn close imo
South America - Carlos Monzon, if Roberto Duran is discounted

Europe - Jimmy Wilde
North America - Henry Armstrong
South America - Carlos Monzon

Play by the rules please, Elmer. Central America is not a continent & is not eligible.

Africa - Dick Tiger or Azumah Nelson (I'd probably give the edge to Tiger)
North America - Ray Robinson
South America - Monzon
Europe - Bob Fitzsimmons
Asia - possibly Pacquiao
Australia - Jeff Fenech (I might've gone with Darcy if I'd seen more of him)

It's connected to both continents, but does not constitute a continent in itself. I knew there'd be someone on this board who needed the basic geography lesson, so I specifically stated Central America was excluded, even though the mere title by itself suggested that very point.

Of course, people never read threads before responding to them.

The american continent is divided in two sub-continents. North- and Soth America. North includes Panama and all central america and also the caribbean islands. South is only from Argentina to Ecuador. Forget about Central America (as I said it is included in North America). There is often a misunderstanding about this, including this thread.
