An unexpected uplifting pleasure of an interview to conduct, but is it any good to read? All comments appreciated.

Yeah that's a good read and gives a good insight into him and his problems. He seems to have matured and settled down since his 2 year sabatical and he has other priorites other than the session.dbflex wrote:http://www.boxingnewsonline.net/BN08/detail.asp?id=969

Glad you asked him about Nicky (I was gonna ask you if you'd mentioned him, til I read the last question). It 'seems' like he's on the mend as well if he's back in training, but getting off crack is not an easy exercise, hopefully boxing can help save him.
Re: Jason Booth on his road back from alcoholism
I saw a guy that looked just like Nicky at a show last year but he was smoking a cigarette and claimed mistaken identity... I'm still unsure.
Re: Jason Booth on his road back from alcoholism
I heard Nicky was gonna have a couple of white collar/unlicensed before he came back.

Good read, loved Jason's fight with Dale Robinson, what toe to toe action, and who can forget when Dale went down in I think the 11th and the angish on his face when he realised it probably (and did) cost him the fight.

TO ANSWER TWO ABOVE POINTS IT WAS NICKY WHO WAS ARRESTED AND NICKY WAS MEANT TO BE DOING UNLICSENSED FOR A WHILE , HE WAS SCHEDULED TO FIGHT NOV 22ND AND I WAS GONNA GO BUT WORK COMMITMENTS MEANT I COULDNT WHICH WAS A SHAME COS IT WAS VIRTUALLY ON MY FRONT LAWN , NOT SURE IF HE DID ACTUALLY FIGHT COS THE GUY WHO PROMOTED THE SHOW ADVERTISED IT ALL ON FACEBOOK IN BUILD UP BUT NOT HEARD A PEEP FROM HIM SINCE. ONE BAD POINT THOUGH WAS IT WAS THE SAME PRICE TO WATCH UNLICENSED FIGHTS AS IT WAS 2 WEEKS LATER TO SEE FROCH V PASCAL.

Thanks for that. Good luck to Jason, hopefully he can get some wins under his belt and earn some decent paydays before calling it quits. I wouldn't say I was an alcoholic but at one point I was close!
So I can really emphathise with what he's going through. I was there in Wigan when he lost to Napa - he looked a weight division bigger but stayed in the pocket too much, where Napa likes it.

I always found Jason a really nice guy and a quality fighter, I really hope things go well for him

Very good enjoyed that!
Got alot of Family in Nottingham and use to tell what the Booth Brothers use to get up to.
Without meeting them i use to think they where idiots, how wrong i was. Met Jason over in Ireland, a lovely fella thats got his head screwed back on..

Re: Jason Booth on his road back from alcoholism
Well, I think he certainly seems to be a lot more mature in the post fight interviews now. I used to really cringe in the days when he would hold the minor titles he won back in the days when Khaliq was fighting and claim himself to be the best in the world.Coco wrote:I always found Jason a really nice guy and a quality fighter, I really hope things go well for him
I enjoy his interviews now, he speaks alot of sense and seems to know his level.
Good stuff, dbflex also.

Thanks guys, really appreciate that. just so you know, Flex Speaks is weekly and it's always a guy in the top 15 (Britain) in our ratings, so if there's anyone you'd like to see on there, let me know.

Re: Jason Booth on his road back from alcoholism
Nice to see Jason is doing ok, still have fears for him once his boxing career is over.
Hopefully he can get a few decent paydays before then.
Maybe a 3rd fight with Napa could come off, both of the previous ones were good value fights.
Booth has challenged 3 other times for the Euro title at flyweight and lost, but he went in against tough guys . David Guerault and Alexander Mahmutov were world title challengers, Jason has shown a great chin in giving boxers like that a tough time.

I agree Gethin would be a good topic but.. in the nicest possible way, he is not the most forthcoming. lovely guy but doesn't like to talk a great deal. It's Michael Gomez next week... someone who c learly has no problem talking... shutting him up on the other hand...

Just a few ideas:dbflex wrote:I agree Gethin would be a good topic but.. in the nicest possible way, he is not the most forthcoming. lovely guy but doesn't like to talk a great deal. It's Michael Gomez next week... someone who c learly has no problem talking... shutting him up on the other hand...
Danny McIntosh - He's cock sure of himself, which I like
Herbie Hide - Never short of a semi-understandable word
Darren McDermott - Never seems to get any publicity
P J Maxwell - Controversial character who's had more trainers than JJB
John Fewkes - What's he doing?
Sean Hughes - He's been there and done it (he also posts on here)
David Price would be a decent interview going by his post-fight reaction to beating the Russian at the Olympics.
Re: Jason Booth on his road back from alcoholism
I like the suggestions, although we're doing a decent mag write-up on Price for Friday. I'll try to get one of these lot for the week after Gomez.

Rob Norton or David Dolan, never really heard much about either before
Re: Jason Booth on his road back from alcoholism
I'm going to their fight next week so maybe I'll interview the winner for Flex Speaks
Re: Jason Booth on his road back from alcoholism
Can you find out where that £3 bottle of sherry is from Flex ?
I see Jason from time to time in my gym. A friend of mine spars him from time to time and says he is not a great spar - but fighting is a different kettle of fish. I suppose he needs that motivation.
I recall when he took a hiding down the alley of a bar in Nottingham a few years back. Was in a bad way.
But he seems to have matured now.

Wasn't that a bunch of bouncers with maglites? The sherry stays my secret mate!
