There is NO WAY the ref would've stepped in as swiftly as he did.

Regardless of the tragedies that John Keane has witnessed.

So based on that logic, wasn't the stoppage dodgy?

premature but depedn what you mean by dodgy, at the end of the day guy was gonna ko'd was down on points if he didnt and was losing that round.
All points to an Aud win to me, so the shouts of Bonin was robbed are bollox in my view.

I know there are a lot of Audley bashers out there, but surely having a go for him being premature is a bit -ahem- below the belt.

But according to the Beeb Audley was only ahead by 3 rounds on 1 card and 1 round on 2.

It was definitely a close fight, primarily because Aud was so lazy.

I still maintain it would never have been stopped if the roles were reversed.

And thus it was a hometown stoppage.

It was a bad stoppage. The pro-Harrison crowd booed, not because they were denied a knockout (as I've seen laughably written), but because Bonin hadn't been hurt and was still in the fight.
A thought: I wonder if Harrison would have tired over the last three rounds, given all the post-fight revelations about his health? We'll never know.

I saw Bonin against Lane and Bycek and other fights I can't recall and I was never impressed. The lack of size and power, the awkward balance, et etc. But he showed a great fighters instinct in this fight, something that Harrison lacks in my opinion.

Best of luck to Bonin, he might've had a decent chance against Krasniqi after all, as long as he would've fought him at the right distance.

The rusky who fought Johansen on the same card took more of a hammering in the first than Bonin took in the whole fight and referee Foster got it bang on rescuing him in the 5th.

Come on Dutch. Pound for pound the little guys punch just as hard as the heavies. It might not look that way because they're usually better-conditioned and can soak them up more.

I have now seen the fight and perhaps I'm blind but I still can't REALLY see this back turn. He goes side on to Harrison, but had Harrison thrown a jab to the body it would have touched his back, but his arm.

I beg to differ. Superfeatherweights throw and land much more on average. to take another light weight class: Gatti - Ward would have lasted 2 rounds in heavyweights. A chin is a chin.

True, but a chin on top of a fat, slow, blowing body in the case of most heavyweights (and Audley Harrison).

Johanneson was bombing that guy, he was pretty impressive.

Bonin was more hurt earlier in the fight when Audley landed a big left hand than when it was stopped. He didn't actually turn his back completely either.
