UK BOXING FORUMS

hey guys, i have been reading Uk boxing forums for a couple of years now but never post. from what i see there are 3 main forums in the UK which are eastside, Doghouse and boxrec and all have their good and bad points. the main reason of this thread is to find out what people think of other forums and who posts on more than the one (i believe the term is forum whore). here are my opinions are the 3 main forums:

1. eastside: this is by far the busiest of the three and seems to have the youngest members. the uk forum has a mix of good and bad posters with robpalmer seeming to be one of the best and knowledgeable. this site is always up on the whats happening and its a shame sometimes a few ruin it for others. i noticed on this site a few boxers actually post as does Steve Bunce.
2. Doghouse: this at the moment is the quietest of the three forums which i think is due to all the pop ups they used to have. i notice there that posters seem a lot old than those on other sites and it has a family feel with a hardcore 10 or so always debating at quite a decent level. the site however does crash when there is a lot of traffic but also has decent Prediction league which seems more successful than those on other sites. Though i dont think many boxers post here Steve Bunce is more active here than other forums which i imagine has something to do with his link to the prediction league.
3. Boxrec: this is a funny forum which seems to contain some real hardcore fans who know their stuff which at times boarders on the lines of unhealthy. out of all the forums this would be the most Knowledgeable but there are a few idiots still. they too tried a prediction league which disappeared but a lot of boxers post on there the most recent being Darren Sutherland who comes across as a decent guy.

one thing which is the same on all three sites is that the American or world boxing sections drives uk fans nuts. ha ha ha

as i said i like to read all three forums and just wanted to know peoples thoughts on the others they dont use or maybe they do. i will post this on all three forums and see what comes back. now give me a break as it has taken me 45 mins to type this message with my one finger typing skills.

I post here, ESB and Boxingbanter (Doghouse is dogshit as far as I can see) and a few that will remain nameless, as will my usernames, mainly to keep up with the news, it is better than trawling boxing websites, if someone spots something decent they post a link on here. That is good as other people read stuff for you and tell you what it is about, saving you time/energy/an online dictionary. Obviously I prefer Boxrec, not for any other reason than the fact that a lot of people I know/have met post here, many more people read it without posting. It is a huge forum, it is also quite odd to meet someone who 'knows' you through it.

Basically my job is quite easy, I get bored in work, and I type fast, so I can babble along on this place without having to stretch myself much. I rarely post on my own time, and only when I am at a PC 'working' at home.

Forums are Ok, I used to get a bit embarrassed about admitting that I was posting on them but the stigma is not as bad as it was. The only drawback is that you may post with a little tongue-in-cheek irony and mischief, only for people to think your online posting = a carbon copy of what you are really like.

I'm basically an Amir Khan hating, black shirted, Islamaphobe looking for like-minded individuals, then I saw that E posted here and decided that it was the place for me.

I started by reading on doghouse when my son found the site for me and then after that boxrec. i only found this forum about a year ago and that was mainly because doghouse kept crashing that i started going else where. they had so serious problems on that site with pop ups and it kind of killed the site.

i have always found here and Doghouse the best for quality, eastside is all a bit rough and ready for me and judging by the response to my thread i'm not wrong. i left doghouse alone for a bit because of the pop ups but they sem to have gone.

Eastside - Very obnoxious towards newcomers and they seem to believe that unless you have 20,000 posts your opinion is completely irrelavant. Although the British forum isn't that bad.

Doghouse - Usually quiet unless there's a big fight coming up, has a more laid back feeling over there.

Boxrec - IMO the best of the three, most of the idiots have been slung off this forum now so is a more pleasant forum.

funny was the wrong choice of word, what i meant was you get some boxing nut taking a area titles then you get someone like DG who just likes winding people up. its not like eastside where they are generally just a bunch of kids who think noth¡ng of name calling and alot of the good posters get lost amoungst the crap. doghouse is similar to here with people who generally just want to talk boxing in an educated way but its as banjo said is very laid back.

Boxrec - a more intelligent, knowledgable, likable sets of fans
ESB - a few groups:
General Forum - immature hater/hugger squables
Classic - statistic heads who refuse to accept any improvements in the sport
Brit - a bit better than the general
Lounge - Neo Conservative/Mysogist types but a laugh

Boxrec Brit - a more intelligent, knowledgable, likable sets of fans, not always as fast moving, only came here because ESB went down and Spud/Warren shut down the Brit section
General - dont post

The Doghouse pop-ups made my eyes melt so I couldn't be bothered with it anymore. ESB has some very good posters but I found it a bit like a playground there at times. I also post on another forum, but, like Terence, it's probably best not to name it.

There is no better forum than here. Just ask Hauser. But not that ESPN dude.
