Brown envelope got Walker rated - Allegedly!!!!
Brown envelope got Walker rated - Allegedly!!!!
Received a call today stating that David Walker received an EBU shot due to money changing hands with EBU Personnel (allegedly of course)
Does anyone know how Walker got rated to face the Russian Karmazine?
Was it the Board who nominated him or was it a well known Belguim agent and his brown envelope that got him rated.
Either way it was irresponsible to let Walker in with a top class fighter.
Seems a nice kid, but is shot to bits thanks to Henneseey and co.
Investigation in order one thinks.
Adios Amigos!

You're right. I looked into it and it is bizarre but makes sense. Apparently Phil Fundoo, who was looking for work for his boxer arranged it with a referee who is a contibuter on this site!
The plot thickens......
If this is true, do we have an IBF type situation where certain parties end up in the clink?
I wonder if anyone official can shed some light on this allegation?
Surely, the Board and BBC must have raised their eyebrows at this fight.

Are you all missing the point. Do you earn ratings or buy them?
Walker did not deserve a shot at the European or even the British. How did it happen. legitimately or corruptly?
Wasn't the Ref the same one who did the fight, can anyone remember?
Don't you have to defend against a rated contender?
How did Walker get rated from nowhere?
Umm, bit smelly don't you think?

While we're on the subject, how do you "earn" a WBU title shot, care to enlighten us? Is it just a hot line you call, then key in the right numbers? Two for the price of one, or something like that?xtremebox wrote:Are you all missing the point. Do you earn ratings or buy them?
How did Gavin Rees become WBO No#1 contender? What rated fighters did he beat?
Please ask Frank and let us know

No, No No.
Just because it happened before and will happen again, does not mean we shouldn't take umbrage at this. This laissez-faire attitude does boxing no good at all, injustices and corruption should be rooted out at every turn, it's the only way to save boxing's tattered rep.
And as for Hennesy matching his fights, yes he puts them in tough fights, but in Walker's case he was in against someone several notches above him in class and experience. Walker has struggled at southern area level, and suddenly he's in against one of the top 5 in the world, disastrous matchmaking.
Walker is too young to be pitched in at this level, it's the sort of fight you make when a fighter is on the way down, and you want to get them a decent payday. I hope he got paid well for that beating, and at least his corner had the good sense to stop it early.

I don't think no blame should lie with the promoter for Walker's current state (i.e. appearing "shot"). Sure, Walker has had 3 or 4 toughies, but most fighters have 3 or 4 toughies and are still exceptional going into their thirties. Walker's problem lies primarily due to his frame (he's no light middle) and also the fact he was never that good. I'm still not convinced Jimmy Vincent is vastly improved since his days as a good journeymen, I just think he exposed two over hyped fighters for what they are.
I think Walker would have struggled with the fighters he's struggled with all of his career, not just now.

xtremebollocks i think its u who's abit smelly you seem to be wrapped up in FW world Rees Vs Achondo now that really stinks Rees isn't even in the Top 100 of the IBO superfeathers the WBU/WBO rubbish and the mandatory rubbish dnt mean a thing the IBO is the only one who is tough enough on the promoters and fighters. You talk like you have inside info but its alot of missinformation and your just passing it on to this forum.
