Did he object when this fight was made? He seemed happy enough after the fight.

If he did not have a go at Warren and try to get a more respectable opponent, then he is largely to blame for the debacle I just witnessed.

Beating Stuart Elwell does not prove that Brook is special. Elwell is barely in the top 20 domestically.

I don't think too much blame should be levelled at the match.

I think if Brook put his mind to it, he'd destroy almost all of the UK welters out there. Some would be more durable than Elwell mind.

Only Watson and Jennings could hold a candle to him.

If he can destroy all of these fighters then why doesn't he fight them?

Jennings, Watson, Doherty, Anderson, Thompson, Hatton, Lomax, O'Donnell, Haughian & Mutley would all be good defences of his title and would bring much credibility and respect.

I think we would find out a heck of a lot more about Kell Brook if he fights this type of opponent, rather than fighters like Elwell.

Very true but as we know British fighters don't like to fight each other and it's always a question of "he's ducking me" and so on and becomes a farce.

Jesus Christ, give the f*cker a chance then. He's 22, FFS. He was supposed to fight at least two of your list and they both pulled out on him.

Are you SERIOUSLY trying to imply Brook is somehow 'ducking' any of those from your list? Ye Gods.

That fight was a joke. That fight should have been a non-title fight, as Elwell is clearly not British title class.

Are you seriously saying that everyone that I listed was offered the fight? And that they all turned it down?

You offer him the fight, and then he says no. It is as easy as that.

Anyway, the other fighters on the list were all realistic options for a defence. Why did Brook end up fighting Elwell?

No, I'm not saying that at all. When did Brook become the first boxer who was duty bound to seek out the most difficult opponent for every defence? It's customary to have the occasional easier defence. Just because he sparked McIntyre in one, that doesn't count as one...many people had that a pick 'em fight (e.g. Boxing News went for Kevin).

Brook was supposed to fight the champ (McIntyre) but he was stripped so he ended up with a lower quality opponent on paper who was very durable (Barrie Jones). Then he wrecked the 'true' champ in one.

And go and do a bit of digging for yourself if you're so concerned. I'll bet you that almost all of your list wouldn't or couldn't have taken the fight.

If he KEEPS fighting opponents like Elwell, then I'll be with you all the way. Let's hope that doesn't happen.

I don't know. It was probably a voluntary defence, perhaps? Judging by how you've summed up the potential situation re Jennings, it's likely that you don't have too much of a grasp of how these things work.

'Er, Ricky, we know you're fighting Manny Pacquiao in May...but we'd like to offer you a British title fight with Paul McCloskey...what do you mean, no?'

As I've said, go and do a bit of digging for yourself. These fighters aren't unreachable. Go and ask them.

A very poor voluntary defence.

What is the harm in asking? If you don't ask then you don't get.

Perhaps I don't care to grasp how these things work, if it involves promoters not asking fighters if they want a fight just because they might say no.

Then perhaps you should stop asking questions which directly relate to this - such as your earlier one, "Why did Brook end up fighting Elwell?"

When you ask a question like that, I presume you are asking how 'these things work'.

I'm getting f*cking sick of this forum.

And before you suggest it, yes, I am going to f*ck off...for now at least.

What an assumption.

The Elwell fight was a joke and you are defending it. Fights like this put people off boxing, this fight should not have been made.

I believe the BBBofC also deserve a lot of the blame for allowing this fight, when they have rejected similar mismatches in the past.
