A few but not many. And not enuf to need them to fight in preliminaries. If 4 or less in division, they just have semis on Sat and finals on Sunday.
Craig Baker was there to support teamate Cliff Newton. He is 2-0 as pro now, said it felt weird to not be weighing in and fighting.
Maybe he and Graz can rematch as pros one day..

Re: Houston (Southeast Texas) Golden Gloves
Looks like Agha wins +201 via walkover/uncontested. He is defending Regional champ as well.
And only two fighters entered at 201, so they will meet in finals on Sunday.

Re: Houston (Southeast Texas) Golden Gloves
Ada-
At 119, defending champ Eric Manriquez vs. Miguel Flores is going to be great.
Eric is a natural boxer, very talented, but may not be very focused right now.
Miguel is very young and tall, with alot of power.
Because Flores has been in shape training consistently, I'll lean towards him, but it could go either way.

Re: Houston (Southeast Texas) Golden Gloves
At 119 lbs:
Referee Ricky Webb disqualified Miguel Flores for a punch to the back of Eric Manriquez's head which landed after the bell to end round 3.
A protest was filed by Flores' team.
A 3 member panel was selected by the Chief Official and the grievence was heard, including witnesses and judges from that match present.
The panel made the decision to overturn the DQ result.
Manriquez and Flores must box again at date/location TBA to decide the SE TX champion.
As of this time, this is how I understand the facts/situation...
Obviously there are many more details, as well as further developments that could come about....
