Hatton believes, that anyone who beats Pacman would claim this title, he believed it and said it when DLH was fighting Pacman and he's saying it again now, but would that really have made DLH the best lb4lb boxer on the planet ? i think not, if Pacman put on 100lbs and fought Valuev he'd get raped. If pacman fought a nobody and got cut and couldn't continue, he'd lose, so would this mean the nobody would become the best lb4lb, again, no it wouldn't. Extreme examples but you get my drift.

So then, do you believe Hatton will be the best lb4lb boxer on the planet should he beat Pacman, if so, why ? If not, then who would be and would Hatton jump above the Pac ?

Personally, i dont believe he would be the best lb4lb. I think he should step back up after this fight and try his hand again at Welterweight, where there are many options for him.
He will not even be top 10!

If Hatton beats Pacquiao then he will be in with a very good chance of becoming the P4P No.1.

How many others on the list would have a win as big as that on their record?

4 GBP fighters there, remind me - who owns the ring?

GBP!

But I agree he should've won the rematch, and I actually had the first a draw (I think).

Manny has NEVER fought at Lt Welter OR against a decent Welter.

DLH was drained to shit in that fight.

Pacman is way overrated - makes way too many mistakes.

Just another little guy for Hatton.

Hatton & Hopkins fights 2005 - 2009:

Hatton - Tszyu, Maussa, Colazzo, Urango, Castillo, Mayweather (lost), Lazcano & Malignaggi.
Hopkins - Eastman, Taylor (lost), Taylor (lost), Tarver, Wright, Calzaghe (lost) & Pavlik.

I currently have Hopkins above Hatton in my P4P rankings, but his recent record is hardly anything to gush over. The gap between the two is not very big, in my opinion.

You are kidding?

Hatton has not beaten anyone in their PRIME and CONSIDERED VERY GOOD!

pacman may possibly be the best lb 4 lb at the moment......but, that would be at his weight, and 140 is not pacmans weight !!

if ruiz had beaten RJJ at HW would ruiz have been lb 4 lb No1??? ... of course not !! :witzend:

hatton is deluded if he thinks he will be numero uno...

RJJ could make lower weight divisions, Manny can only make one at a push.

I dunno why people have this fixation with a fighter's first weight?! Do you consider La Motta a Cruiserweight? Or Berto a middleweight?

Hell naw, Calzaghe's p4p no 1 till he retires. :shame:

I want Hatton to beat the overrated Manny "gift decisions/washed up Mexicans Masher" Pacquiao though and he will because he's too big for Manny. Hatton would beat that version of DLH since they got Oscar to boil too low.

IMO it's a no.

If Hatton wins he'll be claiming to be the best p4p, do you think he'll fight on after? What do you reckon his next move would be?

He'll want Floyd if he wins, which he won't.

Terence wrote:I would be tempted to have Manny higher even if he lost, narrowly mind.

Manny: Win over Marquez, loss and wins over Morales, Win over Diaz, wins over Barrera, hammered Oscar and a host of top fights in the meantime.

Hatton: Kostya and Floyd, a win and a loss, with no one else, Castillo maybe, comparable to the names Manny has taken on, and beaten.

The title should not be passed about like a council estate slapper at a Valentines night disco, it should be earned.

Agreed, one win does not make a p4p king IMO. No matter how good the win. At one time Mosley was considered a candidate for p4p no.1. He lost to Forest twice. Forest lost to Mayorga twice. By Hatton's logic Mayorga would have been p4p no.1 at that time! :o

And something James said I was about to mention as well:

You're right I forgot about Floyd and it would probably happen too, easy money for Mayweather and an easier test than Cotto/Mosley etc.

What about if Hatton loses to Manny? Khan v Barrera winner or just retirement? I thought I heard someone mention on here Ricky's been on tv a bit in the UK and he maybe venturing into a presenter type career after boxing?

No way Hatton is P4P no 1 if he beat Manny. Just because he keeps on repeating the same old tripe "I've worked hard to earn a shot at the P4P title, and I will be P4P the best boxer on the planet if I win...blah blah blah"....it doesn't mean he's right.

P4P should be based on many things such as; run of elite wins; dominating performances, ability to adjust to any styles etc. I think Hatton should face Mosely should he win, but many would argue that would be pitting a JW against a Welter. But if they weighed the same I strongly beleive that SSM would still beat Hatton, even at his advanced age.

That obviously is just my opinion but take away Ricky's strength advantage at JW and you have a one dimensional fighter who has shown he can be outboxed and almost always ends a fight marked up (to prove that he cannot avoid punches).

I am sick of hearing Rickys drivel. If he does win where does Mr P4P go from there? Surely not a fight against JMM or a holt/bradley level (in terms of BO) fighter? It must be back up to 147 where yet again he has a multitude of excuses waiting if he loses.

Agreed!

I thing is - 99% of Hattons fans can not name 10 fighters so they believe any old rubbish he spouts.

Apart from an old inactive KT that was fouled all night and roughed up, he has not beaten anyone really -Castillo was a lightweight moving up and shot and the other oponents he has fought were either not very good or borderline average on the world stage.

FACT!

P4P Number 1? get real!

Hatton willl beat Pacman because Pacman is really a lightweight....at best and he make ttoo mayny mistakes.

Couldn't agree more. I'm sick of hearing Hatton talking shite in the media.

If he wins, there are a whole host of names for him to fight but as we often hear "147 is not his weight" Convenient that

If he loses, there's not many doors open to him.

Following up a Pac win with a win over Mosley or JMM would secure it.

hatton is already a p4p fighter whether u like it or not.

he's consistently delivered the W and added in some good wins over the last 3 and a half yrs.

You arsehole!

Hatton is a bigger man than Mayweather! He walks around bigger and weighed more onnthe night of their fight=BIGER MAN!

Pacman would be knocked out IF Urango landed just 1 Big Shot in the 12 rounds - Pacman is not stoppoing Urango.

Hatton consistent? with his holding and wresling maybe!

The point is - Edwon setana did not go to the top because he beat Norris.

WhennHatton can show he can compete and win against even one of the top 5 Welters he is not gwettin gP4P anything from me.

There are more then 10 fighters in the world better then Hatton so Hatton is not top 10 p4p!

Get used to it, you damn chav biicth!
