Who is the worst World Champion out there?
Across all the weights and just with the main sanctioning bodies, who is the worst of the lot?

If you take WBO as a main sanctioning body then it is probably Nicky Cook. Decent domestic/european level fighter but not world class
If not, then WBA heavy champ Valuez is pretty rank rotten

Currently - I don't really know, especially when you have this Super/Interim/Emertius title with even the main bodies - Cruz Carabajal is past his prime though.
Re: Who is the worst World Champion out there?
WBO has all of them [except Holt and Calderon] because it is a joke and I don't believe is a World title.
Outside WBO probably Valuev and the WBC CW champion that lost to Haye a few years ago

Wladimir Klitschko, Kelly Pavlik and Nate Campbell are all WBO champions and they are certainly not amongst the weakest champions out there.brian13 wrote:WBO has all of them [except Holt and Calderon] because it is a joke and I don't believe is a World title.
I would say the IBF tends to have the weakest champions out of the "big four" sanctioning bodies.

Pavlik doesn't give a s**t about the WBO title, he only fought Lockett because Duddy was injured and horrible in the fight that was to basically prove his worth to fight Pavlik
Campbell is good but JMM looks like he will clean the division now Pacman has moved up to LWW and Klitschko may vacate the title soon because the mandatories are annoying him
Re: Who is the worst World Champion out there?
There are plenty of them and it's not just WBO.
Guillermo Jones who drew with Johnny Nelson about five years ago, Fragomeni, Garay, Bute, Santos, Cook and I don't know about some of the small guys.
Not forgetting tonight's winner of Urango and Ngoudjo - two totally exposed fighters, but the IBF is far worse than the WBO in every way. People on here just slag the WBO because of Warren, when it's the IBF that's been stripping decent champions because they have held a money-making eliminator between the only two fighters in the world willing to box an eliminator. I mean, Urango, who lost just about every round against an unwell Hatton, had a final eliiator against Carlos Vilches, who Hatton almost refused to fight for the WBU title because he was so poor.

I don't think Garay and Santos are too bad. Santos as in Daniel who upset Alcine?? He's been knocking around world class for years and by no means the weakest champion out there. Bute has fought some decent opposition but the Andrade fight was a total mugging due to corrupt refereeing by Marlon B. Wright.
As for Valuev. Say what you like about him and his lumbering style, but he keeps on winning and his record is nowhere near as bad as people make out.

Neither Jones or Garay are bad though not elite but not poor either. Santos is a class act, very good boxer with desceptive power. Bute is pretty good too minus the last 30 seconds against Andrade.
I'd agree Cook isn't any great shacks and will likely lose to Martinez. I don't think Baloyi is what he used to be. Fragomeni is pretty poor and will lose to Wlodyzyk (Spelling)

To be completly honest, there are far to many world champions around nowadays, so i've not seen them all fight. The WBA are turning into a complete joke with all the Interim world champs.

It's an interesting thread this, but where do you draw the line?
You have to stop at a certain amount of sanctioning bodies, otherwise you'd go on ad-infinitum!!!

Pavlik's facing his 2nd WBO mandatory isn't he, in Rubio?brian13 wrote:I forgot those 3.Horse wrote:Wladimir Klitschko, Kelly Pavlik and Nate Campbell are all WBO champions and they are certainly not amongst the weakest champions out there.brian13 wrote:WBO has all of them [except Holt and Calderon] because it is a joke and I don't believe is a World title.

Seems pretty serious about defending his titles until the big fight at 160 comes along.

Re: Who is the worst World Champion out there?
The title opportunity was bogus, but Urango has impressed me with this performance. I DID rate Ngoudjo - thought he looked good vs Castillo in only his 14th or 15th fight and thought he beat Malignaggi. I made him a big favourite over Urango, who struggled with Ben rabah (hardly a world beater) and was shown up against Hatton, but the Colombian came good in this fight against a genuinely world class opponent.gobbles wrote:There are plenty of them and it's not just WBO.
