`Lionheart' is ready to fight
THE lure of claiming some big scalps will see Nader Hamdan return to the ring after being out of the sport for almost 12 months.
Hamdan retired after the best fight of his career a points decision loss to Anthony Mundine in February last year.
The ``Lionheart'' will return to face little-known Victorian Kane McKayon on the Mundine-Shannon Taylor undercard in Wollongong next month.
Initially, Hamdan had planned to face Sam Soliman earlier this year.
Soliman a well credentialed fighter has lost to Mundine three times while extremely unlucky in his first and thirds attempts he also has one win and won loss against Sakio Bika.
``It fell through,'' Hamdan, 35, said. ``I don't know what happened, but I'm training and I'm enjoying it.
``Why not have a couple more fights and see how I go? I'm going to fight whenever something come up and whoever challenges me, I'll fight.''
After his bout with McKayon, Hamdan still has a burning desire to fight the retired Danny Green.
``He is talking comeback,'' Hamdan said. ``I've let them know if they are for real I'm waiting for them.
``I'm here and I'm happy to take the challenge. I'll be the perfect fight to see if he can take on [Mundine].''
The taxi driver has split his training between Dick Caine's gym, Eddine Academy and Billy Dib's gym.
Hamdan has sparred with Mundine and the highly rated and undefeated Zac Awad.
``I miss it ... the rush. I miss the whole thing,'' Hamdan said.
``The whole preparation I miss and the fight night and the nerves. I want to go through it again.
``[McKayon] is a big guy. A walk up fighter. He won't take a backward step and he is always toe to toe with whoever he fights.''
Knowing one is a long time retired, Hamdan just wants one more shot.
One more shot a claiming a big scalp.
``I have an upset or two up my sleeve when I come against the world rated fighters,'' Hamdan said.
``I'm sure I can beat a lot of world class fighters.''

I think if Green fought Hamdan, he would need another followup fight within 2 months.

I do not know about world class fighters, but Hamdan should handle Mckay easily.

must be little known....his name is Kane McKay and he will come to fight...he respects Nader but will give him as much a hard time as he gave Danny Withers and Daniel Baff who both thought it will be a stroll in the park.

I think McKay Vs Hamdan and Connell vs Awad are the 2 best fights on the card.
