Morrison out lasts Esch over the distance. An ugly and boring fight
after the first four rounds. Esch is always looking and chasing for that
one big shot. Morrison, though an ashen shadow still has enough to
avoid Esch's singular blows.

Morrison UD 10.

Bowe on a decision in a sloppy affair. You get the feeling watching throughout Bowe is vulnerable, but Foreman just can't pull the trigger, & struggles somewhat with Bowe's relative youth & extreme size.

Good pairing, and I'll take Patterson to win by a narrow decision. Trailing most of the fight on the cards, Floyd scores knockdowns in the final two rounds to gain the split decison.

As I said earlier..

Did no one pick that up? Seems they didn't. I'll gladly take it --- as will Villasana, on a unanimous decision. Arce is close to out in the eleventh, but does enough to hear the cards, which aren't favourable to him.

I like your thinking. Norton looks great with the jab & looping right in rounds one & two, but a heavy knockdown (coming rather suddenly) in round three puts Norton into a shell. Bonavena takes the next two rounds. Norton is back on-song, & more aggressive than ever, in rounds six-through-eight, however, & by the tenth, it's obvious which man has put the harder work into conditioning. Bonavena is almost down through exhaustion in the eleventh, sucks it up, goes for broke in the next round & wins it big, visibly rocking Norton twice, but gassing totally in the process. A faded Bonavena resorts to mere holding in the final two rounds, & Norton takes a clear UD in a fun fight.

Oh, boy...Liston. Jeffries. Neutral corner rule waived, three-knockdown rule in effect. Six ounce, horse-hair gloves, 25 rounds...

I dont think much boxing will be in this brawl for all....question is can Jeffries handle the power and speed of Liston? Can Liston get used to these kind of rules and equipment? One hard hit, Liston may break his hand.........I see a KO inside 12 rounds for this brutal match, a win, for Jeffries, as he has the edge in experience under these rules, but my God, does he get cut up, just like Fitzsimmons did to him in their rematch.

Dempsey has to endure a knockdown in round one, but he otherwise plainly establishes himself as the better man, smashing Williams to the canvas three times for a ten-count KO in the fourth. Too much class for the capable Williams.

We've already recently had Dempsey-Jeffries, so...

15 Rounds of Dempsey & Liston. Myself, I always had trouble picking a winner in this one...

This is a tough one...

I am going to imagine Liston winning a gruelling, messy fight, his jab is
what wins it for him. He manages to keep Dempsey at the end of his
monster left for most the fight, it is when Dempsey manages to get on
the inside that he manages to slow Liston up with hard blows to the body.

More size, that much more power and that superb jab gives a battered
Liston the decision over a bloody but gallant Dempsey.

Liston UD.

Either man is capable of winning this on his day, they were both good boys. This is Machen's day, & he takes a majority decision. Close, but no disputes from Team Tucker. A real jabbing contest in the early rounds.

haye has worked on his stamina and this sees him with enough power to deck jirov and then KO him in the 10th of a fight everyone thought would be a big guns fest. david shows he can contain his urge to demolish everyone in front of him.

holyfield outpoints dokes clearly over the 12.

Tunney either a little drained getting down to 168, or a little green in making the weight at a comfortable career-point early on, is still to much for Zale to deal with. He takes a convincing UD.

Vargas was more well-rounded, and at his peak was a very underrated boxer IMO, and Graziano has sometimes had trouble with boxers.

Still, I just have a feeling that Graziano's strength and right-hand power would see him through to a late-round triumph. That, and Vargas' proclivity to fall short in his biggest fights.

Graziano by come-from-behind stoppage in around 9 rounds.

close but i'm taking williams over mosley here at lightweight. ike, a top 5 contender in this division hasnt got enough power to KO shane and mosley wins the early rounds. but williams starts to dominate from round 5 with clever boxing and informed movement and by the end has a commanding lead.

It takes a few rounds for Abraham to figure Downes out, but once he does, it's over quick. Downes gets caught by an perfect left hook from King Arthur at the end of the 4th, and he crumples to the deck. He manages to stagger to his feet at the bell, but round 5 starts all too soon, and Downes hits the deck again just 20 seconds in. The white towl flys in...

Kenny Norton & Rocky Marciano give us 15 rounds of their very best...

norton wins the early exchanges and backs marciano up with his extra poundage then in round 5 he leaves himself open as he makes an attack and rocky lands flush with a short right hook. the ref looks down at the still figure on the canvas and waves it off. the seconds rush in and after a minute or two kenny is on his feet.
