Dolan all set

Proper humble, down to earth fella he is. I fancy him big time this Friday but both he and trainer Neil Fannan reckon it's 50-50. Thoughts?

Norton is rated 19th in the World by Boxrec, so a win for Dolan would be a very big step in the right direction. David Dolan is a real pleasure to watch. I'm rooting for him. Norton seems like a nice guy as well. :TU:

I was going to have a decent size bet on Dolan @ 5/4 until I seen this thread :(

Norton it is then.

Dolan has really good skills but I worry about his whiskers. Yes, he had been fighting heavyweights but he did go down a few times against Rogan (who I don't think is a big puncher) and very nearly got stopped against Morgan (who isn't a big puncher too).

I think you find that Morgan is a very big puncher but due to fitness/speed finds it hard to land.

Dolan looks quality to me

Seen David Dolan a couple times in the amateurs he was tipped to do well. Hasn't he only had about 5 or 6 pro fights though. I don't think it's a record but I can't think of anyone myself who's had a British title crack so soon.
You don't hear all that much about the cruiser title I don't think and it's no offence to anyone maybe not the most talented division, which may be the reason DD is in for this title. I don't know enough about Norton to make a call really but I'd give Dolan a fair chance....that said I was surprised to see him get put down twice by Rogan, Dolan remember was a clear favourite to win that competition.
One things for sure there'll be more action than last Friday night.

My apologies Dolan appears to have had twelve contests. I thought it was less than that. Hope he isn't superstitious.

That said they count those 3 round Prizefighter jobs as separate fights don't they, but still more than I thought.

For whatever reason alot of the heavies that come down to cruiser don't seem to bring the strength or power down with them, and unless Dolan can get Norton out of there by midway , i can see him wilting and losing around the 10th.

Norton has proven that he has a good chin, and has been into the late rounds on a few occasions, but his ambition may not be as high as Dolans. It does add up to an interesting fight.

Micky Hunter was supposed to be chief support but he was stuck down with flu/virus a few weeks ago and the disruption meant he had to be pulled from the card.

Can't see Dolan winning over the championship course, Norton has a dig on him and will get hold of him at some point

Could come down to how confident Dolan is with going the distance, will he hold back in the first 6 rounds in case he finds it tough going in the later rounds, or will he have enough confidence to come out and set a hard pace from the start, knowing he can keep it going.

I still fancy Norton, he has shown a good chin and decent skills, and although he lost to Enad Licina a couple of fights ago, Licina has gone on to show he is a very good prospect, so maybe it wasn't a bad fight by Norton.

Norton will be an interesting and tough test for Dolan.

Dolan has packed in a fair bit of pro experience in his short career so far, not sure if it will be enough, but he's good to watch so I hope he pulls it off. Norton isn't good viewing IMO.

I agree that it will come down to how well Dolan can handle the latter rounds (which it should reach). He boxed intelligently in Prizefighter, so I'm assuming that he will prepare well for this bout. He'll be hungry for this.

I thought he looked good in the "prizefighter" he was never a big heavy & came up against a tough one in the final against Rogan. at his more natural weight he may just have enough to win this if he is strong in the latter rounds

Should be able to make cruiser safely, and will surely benefit from not being in against much heavier men. His lack of dig cost him at heavy, but at 200 could be a bit more of a threat, at least up to European level.

Think he lacks the natural power and athleticism to make it at top level.
