Aud on points, Skelton doesn't seem to carry the power to hurt him.

It's not about punching power MW it's about the strength and workrate of Skelton and Audley's inability to handle it.

I think people are being a bit unkind to Audley in the power department, IMO he has good power, not brilliant, but enough to get Skelton's attention and discourage him from steaming in.
I see Harrison winning wide on points after a shaky start.
If Audley manages to hurt Skelton I'll be absolutely amazed.

IMO Harrison would have to throw and land so many of his best punches to get Skelton out of there it's just not an option for him. His lack of natural fitness prevents him from mounting that kind of attack.

Skelton is as easy to hit as Heavyweights come, no head movement at all. Also Skelton looked knackered against Mirovic and many think had Mirovic continued he would have stopped Skelton. Audley is fitter than Skelton, end of. Also I think Harrison's team would alert Audley to Skelton's body. Not many people have worked Skeltons body well but I dont think he will like it at all due to his midsection which doesnt look incredibly muscular. Just a thought, does anyone else think Skelton could fall foul to body shots.

True(ish), although Skelton often gives his opponent very little room to throw decent shots and Audley is a non-puncher anyway.

As we know, Skelton can grind out the rounds if he has to. Mirovic had such a good chance of beating Skelton that night that he quit. Makes sense.

Sure he is, that's why Harrison has to have a minutes rest after each combination.

Possibly, but possibly not. How many heavyweights go down from body shots against a non puncher?

U say Skelton gives people very little room. Audley has the balance and footwork to be able to make room.

Do u not agree that had Mirovic been fitter he would have been able to sustain the attack those few more rounds.

Harrison has been very stop start on his last few fights, but the difference in training quality would show against Skelton, while Audley would be in the US training with Thell Torrence, sparring with top quality sparring partners and doing the business in the gym. Skelton will be over with Eugene Maloney sparring with whoever is available in the gym at that time. Did Harrison look stop start againt Hersisia or Nix. Audley goes in there cautious, jabbing and finding his range and figuring his opponent out for the 1st few rounds. Skeltons come forward predictable style is handmade for AUldey's uppercuts and on the body punch subject, I wasnt trying to suggest Skelton would get knocked down from body punches I was suggesting he may end up spent from a sustained body attack. U say Audley is a non puncher but I think ur underestimating Audley's power, all it took was for Audley to step in after he had spun Bonin and the fight could have been very different, and it wasnt because he was knackered, Audley didnt look knackered at all during any par of that fight.

Lets get this fight on tho, come on Sky accept the terms.

So Audley is going to dance around the ring on the back foot for 12 rounds making Skelton look every bit the limited brawler that he is? In your world maybe.

Yes I agree with that, but this has nothing to do with the previous point. You mentioned "people" saying Mirovic could have stopped Skelton if he'd continued, I say that's bollocks because the guy wanted no more and quit.

If Audley was fitter he could beat Skelton comfortably on points, I have no doubts about that. But he isn't.

Audley wasn't "knackered" against Bonin and Francis because he rarely put any serious punches together, for obvious fear of taking more out of himself than his opponent.

James I don't hate Harrison I think he's a smashing bloke, genuinely funny, and I really wish he was the fighter you think he is but he just isn't.
He has some nice moves, he's learnt a few things and so far he's used his size well against smaller/inferior opponents. But Skelton is a different kettle of fish. He's limited but unless you've got a serious dig then you're going to need a very good fitness level to beat him. Audley Harrison has NEITHER. It's so clear to see.

Mirovic didn't quit, it was a corner retirement ( a bit premature IMO). Mirovic clearly wanted to continue, as he had shaken Skelton on a few occasions. Plus Mirovic wasn't the only one that was knackered.

Does anyone else remember the fight ending being a bit different to this??

Skelton was knackered for sure, he rightly put everything into getting Mirovic out of there once the eye ballooned up. It was a tactic that worked.

I don't think so Kevo, Mirovic wanted no more of Skelton. It was his cornerman that was willing him to go back out for one more round. Mirovic was woefully out of shape I might add.

With that in mind, anyone who get's involved in a do or die battle with big Bob is seriously limited imo, and that is what Skelton is.

you are right his corner wanted him to carry on but bob was shattered. Skleotn was tired cos he knew with his eye closing he had to stop his man before the ref stopped him.

Audley wins :TU: . Most likely by stoppage judging by the way Skelton's face swells up when he's hit a few times.

For me it boils down to (1) Audley's ambition (he's just not going to crumble like the other "opponents" Skelton has had lined up for him). (2) His much better boxing skills (3) Audley's concentration (you only have to see Audley's eyes during his contest to see how tuned in he is to what he's got to do to win. For this reason I don't see him getting cheesed-off and disheartened when Skelton is still trying to climb all over him several rounds into the fight.

Unfortunately the last two fights have confirmed what most people were thinking of Audley, his morbid fear of getting tagged means he, on the whole, throws punches with no weight behind them. There is no way these peppering shots will keep Matt away, and eventually i see Skelton blasting Harrison into submission. Its unfortunate because as our Olympic Champion Audley carried hopes that he could go far in the Heavyweight division, but he's obviously not willing to take a chance and he's not getting any younger. The other unfortunate thing is that Skelton, with no formal boxing training will probably fight at a higher level than Harrison. I hope A-Force proves me wrong.

I don't think Audley fears getting hit as such, he sees most punches coming and takes cuffing shots on the gloves quite easily. For me it's all about that hugely suspect engine he has. So far he's been okay because he's been stronger than just about every man he's faced. But Skelton is a huge step up in terms of the pressure he'll hurl in Audleys direction, and it's exactly that kind of physical pressure that will beat Harrison before he gets near world class.

Whilst I would say it looks like Audley is now training, staying at the same weight for 3 fights shows this. I would still love to know how he trains, his reaction to getting punched (and this is not a question on his chin) is very strange. The sheer panic on his face is as if "This has never happend to me before", he's says he has had good sparring but I don't know.

Yeah, when Audley gets hit his chin goes up in the air like a giraffe his arms flail about all over the place, when this happens he look more like an air traffic controller than a professional boxer.

It's what is known as bandwagonitis. It's been catching ever since Audley's fortunate gold medal triumph 4 years ago.

I find this a hard one to pick, we have two very different fighters who are both of course unbeaten.

I edge towards Harrison on points as he seems a bit more versitle and has a few more 'tools in his arsenal'.

Skelton would of course take the part of the agressor coming forward throwing many wild and hard shots angainst the more mobile Harrison.

This is the fight that could and should bring out the best in Harrison and allow him to show us what he claims to be made of.

I'll go for Harrison using his greater speed, mobility and southpaw jab to survive a bruising first few rounds to take a unpopular (with some) points victory.

I agree with you Kilburn :D
What Matt Skelton lacks in polish and finesse he compensates for with heart and determination, things that I dont think Audley has ever heard of.
I used to be a real A-Force supporter and went to a few fights. I believed this year would be crucial to his development and seem him challenging for a world top-ten shot.
However I have grown disillusioned over the last few monthes and fear Audley may be content to be a good domestic fighter whos greatest ambition is to challenge at European level. Basically I fear he is turning into Danny Williams.
Matt Skelton may not have a realistic chance of challenging for the highest honours but he has made a mockery of "The A-Force" and I now find myself wanting to see Skelton emerge victorious from their proposed skirmish.

Exactly what has Matt Skelton done to make a mockery of Audley Harrison?
