Prescott... we don't know much about his chin, but his weakness from the clips I have seen appears to be his leg speed. Murray will come walking into him, and onto his bombs.

Be interesting to see though Prescott's power against a more durable opponent.

Excellent idea for a matchup though. If Murray takes Prescott it really makes Khan look like isn't numero uno in the UK regardless of what happens against Barerra.

Yes, I'm sure Joe Gallagher's strategy will be to have Murray walk onto Prescott's bombs, Stu...

Seriosuly, there's a lot of gain for Murray. Khan, Thaxton no closer. Prescott's a top contender, has the win over Khan, etc.

Prescott may get complacent and think he's going to thrash another Brit.

Murray has a good solid style, a lot of strength, composure and the brain to stick to a plan. I can see his up/down rhythm gradually getting to a skinny tall guy like Prescott. Of course it would be a very hard fight. Murray's had some good experience in the past 7 or 8 months, and if he wants to step up, good luck to him.

This would be a great fight, but I fear Prescott is handcuffed at the moment by promotional squabbles.

Like Hatton against Tzsyu, Murray may be safer right up close to Prescott rather than at medium range where Khan got blasted. If Murray can keep the fight there he could pull it off. Big "if" of course. Hope the fight comes off - but Henessy will have to wait a bit as Prescott has got a fight lined up on the 20th in the states. Also it will be good to see if Prescott is as good as he looked vs Khan or whether he is a one trick pony.

Be great if it does happen. Khan and Warren are doing something big with Barrera, so why be outdone?

As to the thread title, was it Hennessy's idea, Sky's or team Prescott's, or Showtime, or what?

Do Hennessy and Sky want this so they can justify alleged PPV show?

Hope FW doesn't own a piece of Prescott, I really hope.

Yes of course it will not be a strategy, just Murrays main defensive strength has been a high held guard as opposed to peekaboo Tyson esque movement. Murray has eaten alot of punches so far, and I don't think he can change a great deal.

Of course it will answer questions on both guys - cause I do think Murray is very durable.

What is this about Henessey and Sky? is the ITV deal off? Or is it only for minor fights?

Agree, does Murray have the footspeed to do this? Interesting fight. Interesting to see how Prescott reacts when he lands a bomb and Murray is still upright.

That'd be an inspired bit of matchmaking if Sir Meaty Of Mick can pull it off, it's a loud and clear message to the public if Murray beats him. What's Prescotts contractual situation like at the mo though?

Other than knowing that Prescott is a decent puncher and a fast starter he's pretty much still an unknown quantity (to me anyway), so I'm not gonna make a prediction ........other than Murray KO8.

Murray doesn't take too many flush hard shots though. In the Meager fight ofr instanc,e an aggressive situation, Murray picked off most of the heavy stuff. Leaving him in position to exploit the openings.

IMO the Meager (aggressive) and McAllister (rangy, fast) fights will be decent preparation for this if it happens.

What many criticise in Murray - slow start, steadiness - I see as an asset ie patience, maturity, the ability to gradually and sensibly work into a fight, to up the intensity gradually. I can see him doing well in this fight. For example a fighter like Khan, fast, reckless, and gone in 60 seconds.

Very hard test for Murray, but I reckon his style might match up with Prescott's better.

Ppl are saying that Sky have bought out the ITV contract, don't know if true, don't know how this affects the rest of the stable of fighters.

This sounds like a great match-up, I'm a fan of Murray and I'm also keen to see Prescott again as it looks like he hits very hard!

And as someone else says, what a way to get general public to push more for a Khan v Murray match-up. :TU: from me

I may be a touch blinkered by the Khan fight, but I cant see Murray being able to do anything with Prescott.

He's a pressure fighter with no power. If he's durable and smart enough to stay out of a brawl then he might make it into the middle rounds before he gets KO'd.

Murray's a good domestic fighter who might be able to do something at european level, but against a top level operator he'll be shown up. Even if Prescott's not the next coming of Tito Trinidad, he's still above Murray's mark.

Why on Earth would Murray Precsott be Pay per view??.......or have I misunderstood your point? That's a good way to hurt your career not further it. This game's about exposure.

For my money I reckon Murray looks a lot like Kevin Anderson, built a bit like him, boxes similar and will find similar limitations. It's not inconceivable he could beat Prescott, we just don't know Prescott looks like over a longer fight. But given the mess Lee Mcallister made on John's face, when he doesn't really bang, I could see John having a tough time with this guy.
It's difficult getting experience against opponents who are as powerful or aggressive as Prescott. John would have to keep an extremely cool head against this guy and try to take him into deep water and drown him...not be wreckless like Amir Khan. Question is, when he gets jumped on after 10 seconds by a hard puncher with a longer reach, will he be able to do that?? For me I'd say probably not.

Ppl are saying Froch-Taylor will be Sky Box Office, and that Murray-Prescott would poss be on the undercard.

Will there be enough money - after paying Froch and especially Taylor - for Murray and Prescott? No doubt an undercard like that would satisfy Sky and Showtime, help secure the date and so on. An important fight, then, so will the money be satisfactory?

Also, does Warren have the influence to have Murray-Prescott blocked? ie Warren's so called option(s) on Prescott?

Looks like Murray-Prescott could be a tentative fight, that can only exist on the back of a - thus far - tentative fight.

oh sorry bud i misunderstood didn't realise u meant as a support bout. I thought Froch was Hennessy so thought that meant ITV. I don't pretend to know a lot about these things it would end up on QVC if the money was right :DD

I think Murray's a lot more solid than Anderson, more economical, more correct. Despite the marking up, he seemed to work out the tricky McAllister in about 5-6 mins, wore him down bit by bit & got the stoppage; & looked a million dollars v Meager, in their inside battle. IMO Murray's perhaps the very best infighter in the country. He seems to be coming on nicely. Due to the marking up, I think Murray and his trainer would think now is the time to go for it, if the chance is there.

Murray isn't a fast fighter, but we've seen some guys like Vazquez, JL Castillo, go very far with a lot of strength, persistence, and a solid way of breaking down opponents.

Does this mean if Murray lasts longer. Than it takes to cook a Rustlers burger he's #1 in Britian?

Anyway. I think Murray will beat Prescott. What a fight if it comes off. If Murray can't get Prescott. He should take on Thaxton. British Title and the European on the line in one bout.

Great fight for Murray, honestly can't call it - how can we judge Prescott from the Khan fight, he never took a shot, hardly broke sweat just landed bombs.

Is there a comparison here with Sergio Martinez coming over here, unknown, beating Williams twice and then Stone stepping up to the plate and also getting beat (even though Stone was awful that night, total jabs actually throughen was in the single digits!).

I think Murray is better than we give him credit, he suffers from inactivity, demotivation and poor opponents. Once he fights regularly and steps up we should see a better fighter .
