Board's anniversary celebrations

Is anybody on here lucky enough to be going to this event on Friday night at Cardiff City Hall?

It's a dinner to celebrate the Board's 75th birthday. Present will be almost every living British, Commonwealth, European and World champion produced on these shores.

Should be an absolutely marvellous night.

Kind of on the same subject the first winners of Lonsdale belts outright under the BBBoC were...

Benny Lynch (flyweight)
Johnny King (bantam)
Johnny McGrory (feather)
Jimmy Walsh (lightweight)
Jack Kilrain (welter)
Jock McAvoy (middle and light heavy)
Tommy Farr (heavy)

and for some reason Joe Louis was given a belt for beating Tommy Farr.

Benny Lynch v Pat Palmer was the first fight for a Lonsdale belt on 16th Sept 1936 which Benny won by an 8th round ko

The original winners of Lonsdale belts under the predessesor of the BBBoC, the old NSC were..

Sid Smith (flyweight)
Digger Stanley (bantamweight)
Jim Driscoll (feather)
Freddie Welsh (lightweight)
Young Joseph (welterweight)
Tom Thomas (middleweight)
