Is the Nicky Cook / Esham Pickering double header the first time that two European title fights are on the same bill in the UK. I really can't think of any other.
I am really looking forward to this bill, its nice to see a couple of meaningful fights for meaningful titles being on the same bill. I really hope the lads do Harding proud, I didn't think much of Jess as a fighter, but he's been very good to the game on a managerial/promoter point of view. Hopefully, with Sky's backing and Hearn's experience he can go on from strength to strength. He showed remarkable passion and dignity with the whole Spencer Oliver thing (and he handled his career well, I mean Spencer was a Sky fighter who was making the back pages for boxing reasons - Oliver vs Hamed would have been huge).
With Reid, Cook, Oboh and Pickering thats an impressive list of fighters and all four could concievavly WIN geniune world titles in the next 18 months. I can't think of ANY other promoter who has that depth.
Is it a first?
Is Oboh managed by SN?, I didn't realise that - I thought because he featured on Pickering's last bill that he was a Jess Harding fighter. He needs to be showcased more often.
On Pickering, I do remember those fights but would you have thought that from those days that he would have gone on to win the European title. I certainly didn't. He's a different fighter and the Super Bantam devision is going through a transition. With Pacquiao firmly a Featherweight (and Ayalia), and with exiting fighters like Larinos and Guzman more likely to follow the £££ and join them, there is a market for Esham.
Lets not forget, Esham's defeats have come at Bantam, Feather and Superfeatherweight. He is still undefeated at his natural Super Bantam limit.

I'm as shocked as you.
it's wrong. I'm pretty sure. Oboh isn't listed here:stujones wrote:Actually Adam, http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=008006adamiw wrote:Oboh promoted by SN? What was he doing on the Haye/Pickering and other BBC televised shows then?
