He once had £165 million in the bank but says he's recently been sleeping in homeless shelters and accepting handouts from drug dealers.

Tyson is officially £21 million in debt. He won't be seeing any of his purse for the Danny Williams fight - for the next seven fights in fact (which is the plan over the next two years so he can clear his debt to various creditors, but mainly the IRS).
It's like the Joe Louis comeback all over again.

I think Tyson is exaggerating a little to elicit sympathy and help sell the fight, guys like Tyson rarely end up broke like any of us know broke. I am pretty sure there's always someone who will put some money into tyson's life, even now.

Surely even the IRS have to leave him money to live on?

An American friend of mine saw him in phoenix actually, Tyson came up and started dancing with her, and tried to chat her up, she said he was pretty drunk.

If you have a roof over your head, you aint broke in my book.

I guess I was being naive about the IRS, they haunted Joe Louis till the end of his days.

Yeah Mike does tend to exaggerate things sometimes - "I broke my back! My back is broken!!" - but he's defintely in deep trouble by the sounds of it. King has just paid him something like £7.6mil to settle their lawsuit, but it's just a drop in the ocean compared to what he owes.

Can't afford to lose his next few fights can he?

Shit, did Tyson settle out of court!! I think maybe he did the right thing though, when was the last time Don lost in court, I can only remember him losing once in fact, to Terry Norris.

The fact he was so keen to settle out of court however, would indicate that Don wasn't that confident.

don settled at $14m
$8m upfront and $6m over 2 years...that should pay some of the IRS debt!!!!
I cannot believe someone like Tyson hasnt got $$$$$'s of assets.. I mean the guy was always buying cars and jewellary!!! I guess he had so much he doesnt know where most of it is now
