Warren has done a great job with Haye

Post by chinny »

Consider:

He bought (to sell to setanta) Haye’s successful, exciting challenge to J-M Mormeck for the cruiserweight marbles, when it looked for all the world (until the day before) that it would end up off TV

Then paid him £1m or so to brutally kayo Enzo in front of a good crowd at the 02 and live on Setanta

All this and Fwank didn’t even take a manager cut

What do you mean he bought the Haye vs Mormeck fight? I didn't think that had anything to do with Warren.

Now you know. He bought it from King and sold it to Setanta, mainly to generate interest for an Enzo fight (Haye was after all dead at the weight, right?!)

Me neither, hope it did though
Why didn't Setanta just buy the fight direct from King?

It's true, its true, so said the man himself. At the time I guess Warren had the contacts with both King and Setanta.

this is a key point

Warren knew Haye was a potential big star and he shook Hayes hand at the weigh in and came up to him after the fight and shook his hand after the fight. He wanted to show he could do good business with Haye in a civil way. And then offered Haye around £600-£700,000 to fight Matt Skelton once again to be promoted by Warren. Haye rejected this and took his money for the Enzo fight and fucked off.
