Have any of you seen Lyle/Jimmy Young part 1?
I read somewhere that this fight was better than Gatti/Ward 1. Is that true in your opinion for those who have SEEN it? I never even heard it was good before. For my part, Jimmy Young was oe of the most boring fighters I have seen. He made Ali look exciting.

Yes. IMO, he is one of the worst fighters to watch of all time. He and SRL are tied for first has the worst to watch. Have you seen his fights with Young, well I will make this easier, outside of the fights you listed ALL his fights were PAINFUL to watch. His fights with Spinks, Lyle and Young were the worst in history, easily negating the others you listed.silkov wrote:You saying that Ali was boring???FreeIkemefula wrote:I read somewhere that this fight was better than Gatti/Ward 1. Re: Have any of you seen Lyle/Jimmy Young part 1?
Who is more exciting at heavy then Ali. Again, I will say only Jimmy Young is worse to watch. I would rather watch Chris Byrd, who people say is boring, then Ali. The only truly great fights Ali was in was against Foreman and Frasier and Fraiser and Foreman were always in good fights. I think Lennox Lewis, again someone considered boring, had a much more exciting career to watch in sum total. Ali either ran like a chicken in his so called prime or he layed on the ropes like a heavy bag as he aged. Very boring fighter. I can't believe anyone can disagree. He is just unenjoyable to watch, IMO.silkov wrote:Please enlighten me as to whom you think is a exciting fighter to watch???.....FreeIkemefula wrote:Yes. Lewis is too slow to run. He out boxed Tua. He schooled him. Lewis blitzed Tyson too, so I don't know what you are talking about. The second fight with Holyfied was pretty good. Although, I agree that he fought like a chicken against Holy the first time and he still won by 9 rounds.silkov wrote:You're entitled to your opinion but I disagree. Lewis didn't actually fight like braveheart vs a faded Holifield and Tyson.... and ran like a rabbit against Tua..... so I'm surprised that you rate Lewis higher for entertainment than Ali!.

OK, well you have all 3 Frazier fightsn with the 1st and 3rd candidates for fights of all time, the ones solkov lists, plus you can add Liston 1, Williams, Jones, Cooper 1 and 11, Folley, Blin, Foster etc.silkov wrote:You saying that Ali was boring???FreeIkemefula wrote:I read somewhere that this fight was better than Gatti/Ward 1. So 3 not-so-great fights against Lyle, Young, and Spinks, when Ali was past his best, erases all of those fights???? Give me a break!!!
ANd I'd rather watch Lyle-Ali anyday of the week then Lewis-Tua, a big guy pawing and potshotting a fat midget for 12 rds . . . . at least Ali's opponents got themselves in good shape.

I agree 100%........ Ali was in a different league to Lewis, I could have said a lot more but can't really be bothered to argue with the anti Ali brigade these days!.... boring! if I didn't laugh I'd cry!!!.... 8)dempseyfire wrote:OK, well you have all 3 Frazier fightsn with the 1st and 3rd candidates for fights of all time, the ones solkov lists, plus you can add Liston 1, Williams, Jones, Cooper 1 and 11, Folley, Blin, Foster etc.silkov wrote:You saying that Ali was boring???FreeIkemefula wrote:I read somewhere that this fight was better than Gatti/Ward 1. To get back to the original thread about Young-Lyle I: No, I haven't seen it but I saw Young-Lyle II. Jimmy just outboxed and outscored Lyle, fighting a very clever and effective style. I recall the announcers saying the first bout went the same way.
Where did you ever hear the fight was like Gatti-Ward?!?!. Probably from the same source who told you Ali was boring! Everyone has their preference, boxers or sluggers. Some people can't abide the "make the other guy look bad" style of a Young or a Byrd. But Ali could do whatever the situation demanded, and if you don't appreciate him, then boxing just ain't your game. Granted, the bout with Young was Ali's worst performance, but it by no means defines a career.

Take care.Surely if all shared your opinion (as you want them to) then they could be called sheep for agreeing with you. My mental superior (if one was to exist) would not post such an illogical arguement.

Well done friend, you managed to pick out a spelling error. I’m not afraid to admit that on occasion my spelling does slip, but I console myself with the fact that Newton and Einstein also erred with regards to spelling during their early work. So I’m not in bad company.FreeIkemefula wrote:You meant "argument".glittermonkey wrote:FreeIkemefula wrote: This continued education has been brought to you by Freeikemefula your mental superior.

You, it would seem, are far from immune yourself. In your first post on this thread you miss out the n in one. During your second post you claim that Ali and Leonard are tied for first has the worst fighters to watch. You clearly mean ‘AS the worst’. Third post you write ‘then Ali’ meaning THAN Ali. Also in the third post layed is spelt LAID. Finally, coming to the essay, you misspell SAVVY. I don’t really wish to list your errors in both grammar and punctuation; you should already know what they are.
I dislike taking things down to this sort of level, so if you could be so kind as to use your supreme intellect to instruct me how you can deride people for not being able to formulate their own opinions, but expect them all to share yours, I’d be much obliged.

In fact he already has, but he mistyped the title of the genius-level earth-shaking article he submitted to The Lancet and as a result the medical community, not appreciating his genius, rejected it out of hand, saying that simple antibiotics were already an effective cure for "chancres."ThirdPartyView wrote:Good to see that a 'genius' like yourself can't find something more constructive to do than trolling the Boxrec forums. Alas, I wish not to rescue humans. I didn't know I was posting on a message board for homosexuals. You all seem to have a certain erotic interest in me. I fear I have tickled your collective fancies. I didn't know my handsome looks and poon conquering prowess could manifest itself under an assumed screen name, but we all have our lot in life. I am not not "trolling" as you have put it. I asked a question about Jimmy Young and Mr. Ronald Lyle. My mistake; I thought this was a message board not ask Freeikemefula.com. I will have the proper people come to fix my computer problem directly.ThirdPartyView wrote:Good to see that a 'genius' like yourself can't find something more constructive to do than trolling the Boxrec forums.
