In 2 minds, this could be Barrera's Duran-Davey Moore moment but I think Khan will give the old man plenty of problems with his speed, rangyness, strength, size and workrate. So I'm plumping for Khan and I had Barrera beating Marquez, and am a massive fan but I think Khan's got a big future if he can tighten up certain parts of his game.

BTW this is bigger than Hatton-Castillo in terms of achievment if he pulls it off. Not many at 135 would have the beating of Barrera

Do you mean before the cut fully heals or before Barrera took another fight or something? Barrera is only going to get older.
No I meant before someone else beats Barrera.

I think he meant, before word gets around that Barrera is a shot fighter......

At the moment people still have a positive image of Barrera, with regards to what he has left to offer and many people still have those two points loses to Marquez and Pacquio from 2007 in their minds. From what i could see in that last fight, Barrera looked a shot figter and so Warren needs to get Khan to fight Barrera now, whilst his name still carries some reputation and then on the back of a likely Khan victory, head for a title shot within 12 months. If the fight gets cancelled now, Khan would have to wait a while to face Barrera and in that time Barrera is most likely to lose, de-railing Warren's plans of getting Khan a title shot on the back of beating a "named" fighter.......

Once Barrera loses, his value and reputation will sink overnight and his next opponent will not gain any qudos from beating him, hence Why Warren wants Khan to fight Barrera now.

i think MAb wil win this. i mean he has tons of expereince has been world champ in 3 weights.
i think warren has too much confidence in khan winning .the same way warren thought that Enzo mac would win against hayes.
he got that one wrong i reakon its going to be the same here.
Mab will throw so many body shots khan would not know whats hit him.

Very True,

But i'm banking on the fact that Barrera's next opponents will be of increasing quality, because if he has any intention of going for a world title shot, then the opponents have to increase in quality and in a short space of time, given that Barrera is now 35 years of age and afford to wait 18 months to two years for a chance at one of the lightweight titles.

If this fight had of taken place 5 years ago, I would have said Barrera 99%

But today, well... It depends on how much Marco has left in the tank, either way, it should make for an entertaining fight. :DDD

I don't think it matters how much Barrera has left which going on the past 2 years isn't much, the bottom line is Khan is a huge lightweight!

I honestly don't know... I think though anyone with a decent chin and stamina could beat Khan so I'am leaning toward MAB, but on the other hand Khan is going to be huge compared to MAB and could basically out jab him for twelve rounds with the new 'roach' approach... I believe it is a true 50/50 fight.....

Barrera's experience will tell the tale.

He can still manage to hold his own against the best, but against someone who is on the learning curve like Khan, he should dominate Khan easily.

barrera's just gonna wait for those flurries and pay his arse on the counter.

3 or 4 rds should do the trick. :box:

Khan will win by ref stoppage in the first half of the fight. Too quick, big, strong and hungry.

Murray will get sparked by Prescott (if they meet) and then Prescott will spark Khan again in a round if they have a rematch ;;-)

I'm suprised at some of the predictions on here.
I can't think how MAB loses this.

I spose Khan will get on his bike and get moving.

Could you see MAB struggling against Michael Gomez??

big gamble by Fwank but its not going to pay off in my mind but you guys are making me question myself :)

Barrera to catch up with khan by the 5th (I hope) :TU:

Would you fancy Gomez against Barrera? I wouldnt. Gomez had Khan over and if he can do it Barrera certainly can. Michael hits hard but Barrera hits harder and his ring skills are many times better. I think Khan will be stopped midway. Prescott is very tough and has an awesome punch but I dont think he would beat John Murray. Murray would be very cautious and box his way to a points decision. No point being silly as Khan was and getting caught. I think Khan would fight in a similar way if they had a rematch, (which I cant see happening) too much risk. I hope Murray/Prescott comes off so we can see how good each fighter is. It would be a massive win for Murray but if Prescott won he would definately be fighting for a title soon afterwards.

We need to have a big ol' list of who's backing who and in what manner.

I'm saying Barrera TKO 5 after riding the flurries and beginning to land at will on Khan.

I honestly can't believe that there is actually people debating this.

He came all this way to beat Lloyd and Wenton!
He may not come all this way to do 12 rounds, maybe just to dispose of Khan in the same way as the afore mentioned!
I can't see MAB getting a pension paying purse for this fight, so what is his motivation other than to win?

They are both using each others name......

Khan has a fairly big name in todays scene, Barrera has a big name from the past and if either of them can beat the other, then they will be almost guaranteed a title shot within 12 months. In Barrera's case, he is 35 years of age, so this is like a short cut to a world title for him. It suits both parties, who despite being at polar opposites regarding age, have a short time to prove themselves.....

Being the first 4 weight world champion out of Mexico is a huge deal - Thats Barrera's motivation, not sure his motivation for this fight - cause surely he can walk straight into world title fight without this potential bannana skin. Definately his motivation for signing with King - who owns Nate Campbell.

I also think the rumoured Morales comeback has also helped - Morales has 3 weights under his belt also.

Can't you? oh well you MUST be right then. He must be coming all this way to show full commitment to fighting a bum for a meagre purse and no good reason.

Let me just ask this, when did one of frank's high profile fighters ever lose 2 out of 3? Khan has nowhere to go other than fight at least one of the domestic or euro crop and that is the last thing him or his team want. A win over barrera means khan sitting on the ring apron alongside a beaming Fwank saying how he has just beaten a legend and is out of Murray's, Thaxton's league etc. And then has a license to fight who he likes.

10/11 at betfair for Khan to win outright? theyre giving money away.

Can't understand your logic here - you're saying Barrera is coming with the intention of losing, throwing away a reputation he's fought his heart out to earn for around 20 years?
Why on earth would he do that?
No doubt he's coming here with the intention of shattering that glass jaw, and earning a few more paydays before heading into the sunset.

Now I happen to think that Khan could win this, but I don't know how you can be so certain with a fighter as vunerable as Khan. You and Frank must have been fairly sure he'd despatch Willie Limmond with little trouble, and look what happened there.
