Edison Miranda set for the UK

Post by Old bones Ian »

Oh yes the huge punching Columbian is on his way over here according to BN, Miranda has got a deal with Jim Evans and Robert Waterman.

Apparently he's going to be on a show at the York Hall!!

Hopefully the first of many fights for him over here

A chance to build him back up in a market that hasn't seen him brutally exposed, the cynic in me would say.

Well i'd rather look at it as a chance to see one of the biggest punchers in the middle/supermiddle division, he's only lost to the best and 2 of those losses were wildly exciting.

Well no opponent has been named yet, so why not give it a go Tony, you get my full respect for calling him out :TU:

Oh, don't get me wrong Ian. I think he's a very exciting fighter, and better than most on these shores. It's just that he's been hammered by Pavlik for the American market, then Abraham destroyed him in the rematch, which takes away the German option. I can see him coming over here, being hyped as the first guy to stop Eastman, knocking over a few people, and getting his name back out there on the world stage again, perhaps easier than he would have done if he'd tried to rebuild in the States.

That is a very cynical view though. I'd pay to watch him fight over here, mind, so it's not exactly a bad move.

At any level below world class Miranda is a crippling puncher..

Just look what he did to David Banks:

Fair play for calling him out though Tony - good to see that sort of ambition

Anyone remember when Evans/Waterman 'signed' Andrew Golota? Must have been about five years ago now.

Yeah, I reckon this will be another one of those type of deals. No deal.

I'd pay to see Pantera fight. If it gets Ian off the island it'd be worth it.

Good news, he's an exciting fighter albeit coming short at the highest level. When Miranda fights you know some is getting KTFO!
Be good if he can get a good run going to set up a potential barnstormer with Froch.

I'm going to Soton ABC on Tues mate, but if you can only make Sundays, I'm free on March 15th? You can come over and watch the Khan fight the night before, if you like?

I know the weight difference means it is probably a no go.... but isn't Miranda vs Mayorga just screaming to be made.

Hope it will be screened on some TV.... not often we get to see a world class star in the UK.

"World class star"

?

He's been ruthlessly exposed and blown away the last two times he's stepped up to world level.

Okay, might have been OTT there - what I meant was someone who has fought at world level and would start as a favourite against any of our Middles.

I see

Yeah I agree he'd be a damn tough opponent for any up-and-comer.

I thought that he moved up to super middle since his defeat to Pavlik - he said he got a fever from trying to make weight.

I see his last fight was at 174... Could he be fighting Froch?

Tony would start a massive underdog, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in there with Pantera.

This looks like it is happening, March 20th York Hall, being televised by secondsout.com
No opponent has been named for Miranda, main support is Shane Watson v Lee Cook
