It's easy to knock the sport but we're in for plenty of action over the next couple of months.

Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
It will be interesting to see Danny Williams in action again. I love the fact that you never know what to expect with him. Well, except for when he bores me to death.
I'm very surprised Dean Francis and Nathan Cleverly are fighting for the Light Heavyweight title. In Dean's local paper he said he was going to campaign at Cruiserweight from now on, and he said that after his last fight!
I'm really looking forward to Jamie Moore's European title fight. He's someone I really hope does well.
On the Commonwealth side of things, I can't wait for Skelton vs Rogan. It's probably going to be messy and a very physical fight, but I'm really intrigued as to who the victor will be. I'd expect Skelton to win, but Rogan is a wild card.

Cant see that happening in March though, can you? How does a veteran lose 25lb for a big title fight in 4-6 weeks tops??Terence wrote:Francis-Cleverly

Yes, Asterix - not all these matches will happen...but they are there if the parties want to get it on!Asterix wrote:

Ah, okay, well I don't think Francis vs Cleverly will happen. I'd loved to be proved wrong.Ian 'Mr' McNeilly wrote:Yes, Asterix - not all these matches will happen...but they are there if the parties want to get it on!Asterix wrote:

So don't the BBBoC have to account for their decisions?
Surely some of you Journo types have contacts there to ask such questions as the Lloyd fiasco.

Spot on Ian McNeilly. It is easy to be negative, but just look at the potential for some cracking bouts. You have to weigh the negative up with the positive to realise british boxing is not a dying sport.
Do you know what the following is about :-
WELTERWEIGHT - ADNAN AMAR (Holder) v MARK THOMPSON The Stewards have withdrawn the Championship status from the above contest. :?? Why withdrawn :??
LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT - PAUL McCLOSKEY (Holder) v BARRY MORRISON The Stewards approved an application from Promoter Barry Hearn for the above voluntary defence to take place at the Everton Park Leisure Centre, Liverpool on Friday, 13th March 2009 strictly subject to the winner waiving grace and defending when ordered by the Board. The winner of the contest to defend against the winner of AJOSE OLUSEGUN v SCOTT HAYWOOD when ordered to do so by the Board. :?? Is Olusegun now eligible for the British :??
Loads of great bouts, I love the look of :
FEATHERWEIGHT (Vacant) - AKAASH BHATIA v DERRY MATTHEWS Purse bids are called for the above contest to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board's Head Office by 12.00.noon Wednesday, 11th March 2009. The contest to take place by the end of June 2009.
Will Gary want this again? :
LIGHT MIDDLEWEIGHT - ANDREW FACEY (Holder) v GARY WOOLCOMBE Purse bids are called for the above contest to be submitted in accordance with the Terms and Conditions attached to the Board's Head Office by 12.00.noon Wednesday, 11th March 2009. The contest to take place by the end of June 2009.

Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
Will be pleasantly surprised if this match happens but isn't Derry fighting Femi Fehintola? Some cracking fights to look forward to if they come off and mostly on our shores. British boxing is well and truly on the up and up. Provided fighters are matched well, it doesn't matter what level they are at to provide a great fight.THEBUTCH wrote:

Asked yesterday. Mr Smith away. The Board are good at getting back to queries.Twinkle Toes wrote:So don't the BBBoC have to account for their decisions?

I heard Francis can't make the weight, he'd have nearly 2st to lose on his fight last week.Twinkle Toes wrote:So don't the BBBoC have to account for their decisions?

Simpson v Bell on Khan undercard is an interesting one.

Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
Stand by for a new slimline version of Danny Williams.
Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
No mention on there of Gomez/Burns is that still on does anyone know?
Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
There was no mention of Kevin Mitchell vs Stephen Foster. Is that match actually planned?
Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
Olusegun has been eligible for British and European for several months. What was kind of humerous was that at one stage the EBU had him #17 and the WBC #3. Despite both organisations having strong links, the difference in that is just amazing considering he's ranked so low in Europe and so high by one of the main World bodies.THEBUTCH wrote:

Derry is down to fight Femi on the Hayemaker Liverpool show. I really hope that bout isn't withdraw now.black panther wrote:Will be pleasantly surprised if this match happens but isn't Derry fighting Femi Fehintola? Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
Is the Mark Thompson who posts on here this Mark Thompson? If so, he should be able to tell us. I seem to remember Thompson withdrawing from an eliminator with Kell Brook. His team said he wasn't ready...but he boxed someone else on almost the same proposed date. If this was the case, one can only presume it wasn't viewed very well. Apologies to Mark if I'm wrong.THEBUTCH wrote:Spot on Ian McNeilly. It is easy to be negative, but just look at the potential for some cracking bouts. Skelton v Rogan should be good though.
Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
Cheers BigEars, Ian McNeilly etc
I wonder if Mark Thompson meant he wasn't ready to box someone as dangerous as Brook in terms of his preparation needed, but ok to box and ordinary 6/8 rounder.

Re: All the latest title news from the BBBoC
I think its now, finally, getting easier to predict Danny Williams.
Fat, slow and chinny... has looked that way in his last 3 fights. He won't change now, he's done.... I'd be surprised the fight will take place. I do think (and hope) we have seen the last of Danny.
I hope Cleverly vs Francis does happen at some point, but maybe not in March.
