Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
Can Clinton Woods regain a world title......Or has his time passed ??
Clinton won in convincing fashion on saturday night and looked quite strong against a good opponent in Muriqi. Clinton says that the performance proved that he is still, in his words "world class...."
Can Clinton beat the likes of Dawson, Erdei, Diaconu or Tarver in a re-match ?
Or at 36 years of age.......Has his time come and gone ?
Also.....
Is it just me, but does anyone else find Clinton boring to watch ??

Maybe against the WBC guy or Silvio Branco If he beats that guy.

I don't know. Same subject. Same structure i.e. make a point, then start a new line to make another point. On the surface, it looks like you. There's no getting away from that.Spud wrote:Rhino - stop being f*cking stupid :x :xrhino222 wrote:errr..hello spud

In addition "Rhino" is the biggest sh*t stirrer on here - just ask him - he loves stirring the pot and then sits back and watches and has a giggle or 2 at the sametime!!!

Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
Yeah, you could have done that to make it look like someone else. It doesn't look good. We'll have to assume it was you.
Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
I strongly feel that Dawson will beat Tarver easier this time.
And unfortunately for Clinton, Dawson is too good right now.
Otherwise the Sheffield man will have to look at the other strap holders out there as already mentioned.

Personally I think Dawson vacates once he has beaten Tarver again on the 14th March.G0mez wrote:I strongly feel that Dawson will beat Tarver easier this time.

In my opinion the IBF will then sanction Clinton to fight Tavoris Cloud for the vacant title.
Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
Maybe, deseves another chance though. Would like to see him take on Erdei for WBo thats winnable.

My interest in Clinton Woods, is because i'm from Sheffield and have taken an active interest in his career. I have'nt read any of Spud's threads, but if you look at my other threads, you will hopefully find enough evidence in the wording of the threads to denote a difference.
I am Quixall and also post on Doghouse boxing UK section
I'm not imposter and it's not fair on Spud to casr assertions against him that hold no truth.

I can't comment on Diaconu, as I've never seen him.
Woods vs Dawson, no chance. And assume he won't do any better in a Tarver rematch, which won't be saleable anyway, as the first one was one-sided and a little dull.
Woods' best chance is against Erdei but I can't see him getting the decision.

Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
Spud's finest moment was captured on camera by the BBC.
Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
But would Dawson vacate? Unless he has a fight with Hopkins for that Ring mag belt, he can't really vacate his only title. If he vacates, with no other championship forthcoming, no one will fight Dawson, they won't have to. I can see him doing what he did before i.e. vacating the WBC knowing he has a fight vs a big name for the IBF (Tarver). He could do that with the IBF only if there was a fight with Hopkins secured.Spud wrote:Personally I think Dawson vacates once he has beaten Tarver again on the 14th March.G0mez wrote:I strongly feel that Dawson will beat Tarver easier this time.

Best situation for Clinton obviously if Dawson does vacate. Like everyone says Dawson won't want it, because US TV won't want it, because Clinton was so bad last time. I wonder if Woods might have to fight Cloud in a final, final elim (as Tarver had to do with Reggie Johnson and Eric Harding, elim after elim; also Nate Campbell did this couple of years back). From Dawson and HBO's POV, that might get Woods out of the way.
Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
Clinton would get his a*se handed to him by cloud, and he could well end up getting hurt as he has too much heart.Spud wrote:Personally I think Dawson vacates once he has beaten Tarver again on the 14th March.G0mez wrote:I strongly feel that Dawson will beat Tarver easier this time.

Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
Well obviously it will depend on the IBF situation. Its not as clear as all that. Woods's fight at the weekend was an eliminator for the IBF #2 position, not an eliminator for the title. So, unless Dawson vacates - and I personally don't think he will for a while (he needs a title as a bargaining tool), then there is a chance Woods will have to face another opponent for the #1 position.
I hope I am wrong, but his title shot is far from secure.
I don't think he beats Cloud, Dawson, Erdei, Hopkins, Garay. I haven't seen Diaconu. He should beat Branco.

Do you rate Cloud that highly?
I am serious here - by your words I take it you think Cloud is possibly the one to beat out of all of the Light Heavyweights !!

Yes he would kill Woods. With all due respect he is one of our worst world champs ever. Yes he had some good fights with Glen Johnson but he never really won any of them. Cloud has the potential to be the best out of the LHW, Clinton would prove a stern test for 3-5 rnds and then get overwhelmed.

Re: Can Clinton Woods regain a world title ??
Clinton Woods is like the John Ruiz of the light heavies, boring to watch, can't beat the elitew, yet hangs around the title picture like a bad smell.
That IBF belt he got. . . what a liberty against Tarver & Johnson. I hope Woods never gets a belt again. The dismal way he surrendered his belt leaves a bad taste, just as having to call a man like him a 'two time world champion' *RETCHES*
