John O'Donnell in my opinion.
John got kayoed in the states, said he wasn't "right". Craig got stopped in Italy against Petrucci - who Neil Sinclair would take 12 rounds a few months later.
All of which means nowt!...that said In two of Watson's best wins I think his case was helped against Nuumbembe, who suffered a bad cut and bled freely for a few rounds before being stopped (cut).....then against Matthew Hatton he was in with an inferior opponent who was never in it. Hatton has gone on record as stating he just never got going that night and would beat Craig Watson if they boxed again.
I watched John O'Donnell 2 years ago in the flesh win the English title on points against Stuart Elwell. Although it went ten rounds and Stuart you could argue won the first 3 - I believe Elwell was on the point of being stopped 2 or 3 times, in fact it should have been. O'Donnell, on Sky shows I've seen him on, can sometimes appear a bit cocky and boxes in fits and spurts. I don't think it's that he IS cocky, he has just possessed much more skill on those occasions, as well as power, as his opponents.
That's as balanced a view as I can give based on what I've seen - O'Donnell for me.

I've always said John looked fine to me entering the ring when he lost (I was there). He just got beaten by a fighter who was better than they thought he was.

Yeah it's just as well you say that tbh, I didn't ever see the fight so maybe I skimmed over that. When O Donnell went over there he was touted and he was going to win. It sounds like he just got clocked.
That said I've seen a bit of Watson and I don't think he has tools to do John. Maybe he got caught early (rnd 2?) or maybe the guy was a concussive puncher, perhaps you know? I reckon the bookies will have it fairly even with Watson slight favourite due to being champ. I'm sticking to my prediction though.
I just hope it comes off cos it's a really good match up potentially. Either of these two would give a decent account of themselves in a British title fight.

Pretty much. Solano started fast out of the gates and John didn't. He was taking shots he shouldn't and was dropped early in the second, then took another 30 secs to a minute of punishment before Joe Cortez stopped it. I thought the stoppage was a little late, but hopefully it was a good learning exercise for the Lad. We thought at the time Solano's record was a bit too good (something like a 75% KO ratio of total wins).

This, for me, is a 50/50 fun little fight. :box:

I thought i recalled something of a perforated eardrum from John?? Something about his balance being totally fcked after he got hit...which would surely be impossible to win with. However I couldn't substantiate it, I thought I read it on BBN, could have just been an attempt to play the defeat down though.
Tell you what if it comes off it will be nice to have a Friday's boxing to actually look forward to!

Who do you think would win Emerson you haven't said?
What was the main event that night anyway I can't remember, think John said he'd sparred Mosely over there could have been one of his fights.

DLH v Mayweather, mate. Both John's sparred with Shane at the Wildcard I believe.

This is a tough one to call for me. I like both fighters for different reasons. Fck it; O' Donnell wins a close decision in a tough fight to score.

Now put all your money on Watson!

I'm not sure Cortez did stop it Emerson. I was at the fight and I'm pretty sure it was Robert McCracken who threw in the towel from the corner. I thought O'Donnell should have been given a little longer.

Just 2 questions and I'll leave it at that.

1. Can you purchase tickets for the Watson v O Donnell fight on the night at the York Hall ?

2. Where can you watch the Paul Williams v Winky Wright fight in London Live on the same same evening/morning ?

Thanks in advance.

Good fight. I'll take Watson on points or late stoppage. I see O'Donnell as similar in style to Lomax, who Watson schooled.

Me too. Lomax and O Donnell are on different levels with respect, skills-wise at least.

I agree O'Donnell is better than Lomax but his style is somewhat similar - at least from what I can remember of Lomax.

Respect to your opinion, but O'Donnell won't be a slouch in there.....I've seen a good bit of Craig, cracking win against Nuumbeembe, who I rated very highly, cut yes, but as you say Watson was getting in front, but I don't think Ali bleeding heavily for 3 or 4 rounds helped him.

I've seen O'Donnell in the flesh outpoint Stuart Elwell over 10, and have to say Elwell looked on the verge of being stopped 3 times to me.

I'm going for O'Donnell though I'm sure your pal will give him a tough fight.
