Should Amir Khan and Breidis Prescott have a rematch?

Post by didipuff »

In the aftermath of Breidis-Khan on PPV I remember Glenn McCrory being asked "Where does Khan go from here?"
To this he said "Never get in the ring with that guy again- thats for sure"

Just wondering weather people agree or disagree with this.

Personally I think that the only way to finally get rid of the demons of BP is to get back in the ring with him at some point. Until this happens, even with Khan victories over Barrera etc. people will still point to the BP example of Khans lack of credability as a world class fighter. Having said this a second defeat to BP would surely be massively career damaging.

What does everyone think?
Do you think Khan would even win a rematch or would the eventual outcome be the same?
Do you think this fight would ever feasibly happen again?

allegedly will never put him in with Prescott again. He can't keep his chin out of the way for 12 rds & that would be the end of his cash cow.

Maybe a couple of years down the line if they both get a few decent wins under their belts and if they are both in world title contention yes I think it can and should happen. If I was Khan I wouldn't feel like a world champion by winning a belt without first exercising the demons of that night.

yes please gebus yes i want to see khan KO'd again i think he would fare better aginst prescott but all prescott needs is 1 punch and i dont think khan has the concentration to stay 100% protected for 12 rounds

Yes, Khan got blown away last time because he went into the ring with complete arrogance and total lack of respect for Prescott. He can beat Prescott if he boxes smarter but as already stated all BP needs is to land one good punch and the fight changes.

I like Khan and still believe he can do well but I would keep him well clear of Prescott. He was stiffened to his boots by a Prescott jab and I can't see Khan staying out of trouble for 12 rounds against him.

Khan seems to be well on his way to a world title shot anyway, so I see no need for him to have to rematch Prescott .. it would be suicidal of his people to even contemplate it ... a prescott Jab rocked the china chinned Khan to his boots

Khan will prob be lucky enough to get a world title, how long he keeps it will be the interesting part.
For me its not how fast you get to win a world title, its how long you can keep hold of it.

One good punch is all Prescott needs, the question is has Khan's defense improved enough under Freddie Roach? I'd say sparring with Pacman helped him too but if he gets hit by any big shots I'd say it will go the same way as the 1st fight

I think Prescott deserves to fight Barrera more than Khan. But its all about the Promoter and the Cash cow.

I think he may fight the man who beat the man, meaning if someone beats him who has a slower style and less of a punch then I recon Khan will be first to get them in the ring.

They will never fight again.

The nature of boxing is such that you can call yourself a "World Champion" without ever having to overcome an opponent who easily beat you.

As a fan, I think they should have a rematch.

Thinking along the lines of what's best for Amir, they should wait until:-
A) there's more to gain in a rematch (because Prescott becomes known for more than just beating Khan) and have the rematch
B) it looks worthless (because Prescott loses to someone poor) so don't have the rematch.

whats so special about the prescott of now? you've only seen 54 seconds of him fighting someone who happened to walk onto the end his shots. amir khan could be twice the boxer prescott is. he was stupid, shouldve had a better game plan (im sure they did and khan just didnt stick to it) for all we know that could be the highlight of prescotts career and could lose hid next 15 fights
Wow :o .. you must really be a die-hard Khan fan to put your name to that rubbish .. and believe it:oops:

How can you say that Khan is twice the boxer than Prescott given what happened in those 54 seconds?

Talk of a rematch is a little moot as it's highly probable that Khan's going to get KO'd in his next fight.

I've always stuck up for Khan when he's been slated on here in the past and I genuinely think he's capable of great things, but...

You dont go from being smashed to pieces in the blink of an eye, to fighting Fagan, to fighting MAB!

I'm really hoping that Khan pulls it off, but I've got a horrible feeling about this fight. Forget about Prescott until then.

Prescott is not up to much (despite what certain hacks have you to believe - based on those 50 odd seconds).......i think his own career is likely to be derailed soon

i'm not sure the fight makes sense for Warren but i would imagine Khan wants it. I would love John Murray to fight Prescott and beat him live on TV because for one it would be a good fight and two it would one over Amir.
I think it would perhaps help Khan to psychologicall erase that defeat from his mind, but from a career based approach, i don't think it would be a wise move. Khan has'nt chnaged that much in the time he has been with Freddie Roach and still looks wide open in defence, despite having his guard held higher and would be just as susceptible to a prescott punch today or in a years time. If Prescott had won by a lucky punch, then i would be for Khan having a re-match, but Khan was beaten and knocked out, because Prescott knew what he was doing and knew of Khans' weaknesses and how to exploit them....

Interesting fight from an audience's viewpoint, but not from a proffesional and career stand-point
