Graham Earl coming back
If the Castle fight didn't convince him, what will?

Be surprised if the board allow him back
Re: Graham Earl coming back
and was on a downward spiral even before that. Fought the fight of his life against Romanov and it's a real shame people are letting him continue.Fearful_Freddie wrote:Asking for trouble. Never been the same after the Katsidis fight.

The board should step in here, no doubt.
I like Graham Earl, but it's the Board's responsibility to save people from themselves when required...

Re: Graham Earl coming back
yea after the katsidas fight he hasnt looked right,
He looks Very Glary Eyed and Punchy
That saying if he wants to continue and passes all the tests then its up to him
Three Knockouts in a row doesnt look good though

Will the board step in? They didn't stop Julius Francis even though it was apparent he couldn't win a fight anymore.
For all who haven't seen it, here is Henry Castles blow out of Earl. Should he still be fighting?

Re: Graham Earl coming back
What does that say about the tests if he can pass them? Are they suitable tests to prevent shot fighters from slipping through the net? I am speaking as a layman of course and perhaps medical tests will disprove what many of us see before our own eyes - that he ought not to continue - but I doubt it.

hes gonnaget kiled if he keeps fighting
Re: Graham Earl coming back
i thought he was gonna concentrate on being a trainer, cause he's not long opened a gym. Dont think he should be allowed to make a comeback, for his own safety, plus what's he hoping to achieve by coming back?

But its difficult to judge. Sure we can say he's "shot" but that's not a medical term. A fighter can be shot to bits and still pass all medical tests. I hope someone close to him convinces him to stick to becoming a trainer but I reckon the board will let him go on if he so chooses. I mean yes he did get blown away in his last two fights but there are plenty of journeymen out there who have back-to-back stoppage losses and are still fighting. Earl is way past his best for sure, but he's still good enough to be a journeyman. :(

The difference is the level the journeyman fight at and lets be honest - most would bail out before they are carried out on a stretcher.
Graham is risking his health. He needs to stop for the sake of his kids.
Sorry - but its true.
Good fighter in his day.

He has been battered in his last THREE fights with two of those being first round TKOs.black panther wrote:But its difficult to judge. Sure we can say he's "shot" but that's not a medical term. He may pass the tests but there comes a point when it is obvious a fighter shouldn't be in a ring
Re: Graham Earl coming back
Francis was completely different. He was making some money, fighting with a tight guard and losing on points with no intention of winning.overhand_right wrote:Will the board step in? They didn't stop Julius Francis even though it was apparent he couldn't win a fight anymore.

Earl is getting smashed, cannot defend himself and in saying he doesn't want to be thinking about "what if" in the future, sounds like he believes there is more for him to achieve.
Re: Graham Earl coming back
Sad tale isn't it? Hopefully he doesn't continue to get beaten up by up and comers and journeymen types.

Re: Graham Earl coming back
I hope he doesnt come back, anyone who would allow him to fight on now would be highly irresponsible. The lad is shot and has looked like he has no punch resisitance left at all in his recent fights. I'm sure Earl will make a great trainer and he needs to look after his health and concentrate on that...

Martin - He told me himself when he appeared as a guest at a EBF show in Northallerton in December he was thinking about it and he was possibly moving up a weight mate!!!Londonirish wrote:I dont think he is coming Back, from what i hear he has def called it a day...

Re: Graham Earl coming back
There is no way Earl should be aloud to carry on, Where are this guy's family?, surely everyone must be telling him to hang them up. If the board let him carry on and he get's badly hurt then they will have to carry the blame.
Re: Graham Earl coming back
The board should step in, but if he passes all the tests there is not a lot they can do legally.
Lets hope promoters don't give the lad work because any that do will just be using him to pad out a record of a youngster

How wrong did i get it, from what i heard last is that he was Staying retired never realised that it had changed!!
Your right he wants to go up to Light Welter, if he's getting KO'd by the likes of Castle when he steps up i dont give him much Chance.. I Know it did struggle to make 9S 9P........
What can he achive by coming back??
