Pavlik called out Mundine.

Post by Hounddawg »

Pavlik mentioned fighting Mundine after he dismantled a Fighter that didn't throw back in Rubio.

Really one sided fight today.

I think after the last 2 fights I've seen of Pavlik, i think Mundine would compete, and maybe beat Pavlik.

What are peoples thoughts.

mundine always finds a way to win he also is a talented boxer
hopkins showed up pavlik with speed and the fact he didnt want to stand there and trade in which is mundines forte
however it would probably only take one punch from pavlik and/or one mistake from mundine and the fight could end
i believe mundine is vulnerable to the left hook when defending in close and no referee in the usa would allow mundine to duck the way he did or turn his back and if it wasnt for taylor punching low something may have been said
is kessler better than pavlik?
mundine is better now then when he fought kessler
mundine imo is a better skilled fighter but pavlik probably has the best straight punches in the world and the longer reach
speed kills and i think mundine has a huge chance of an upset

I haven't seen Mundine' last 2 fights, but they were scored dominant, so i don't know if he's coasting or not, but you would have to give him a chance against a very slow puncher in Pavlik.
IMO, the fight i watched today, Rubio was beat before entering the ring, he came in and just didn't want to throw any punch's.
I agree that his straight punch's are pretty good, but good foot movement can nullify that, i think Mundine can pull that off and surprise Pavlik with good movement and quick hands, he wont KO Pavlik but could UD him.

He is a better fighter since Kessler, just hasn't let the world see it, if he has signed with GBP they wont let him fight bums anymore, so who knows it could be a possibility.

If they fight mundine should beat him unless pavliks power gets him off his game.

Great news for mundine that palvik is interested, pavlik is very popular and one of the bests.

Yes, Kessler is better than Pavlik. I do like Pavlik, though, and it's good to see him throwing quite a few body shots now. He's got some venom in those hooks.

mundine will not fight him....he has a pulse.

Seriously, Mundine will need some better lead in fights than he has been having before stepping up to Pavlik. And it is a serious step up from where he has been fighting.

Time will tell.

Okay, if fighting Mundine is bottom feeding, you should be able to name 50 middleweight boxers better than Mundine.

Rubio is better then Mundine's last 9 opponents.

That's all I have to say about that.

Pavlik's only loss was against Hopkins at 10 pounds over his usual fighting weight. He has 31 KO wins (including one again Taylor) and has never been KOed. He is still the only professional boxer to bear Jermaine Taylor.

As we used to say around the gym, he looks a bit tasty to me.

asterix,

i know hes not that bad but he is overrated which is why he is fighting bums most of the time so he can make some cash before he fights the other belt holders and gets exposed and becomes unmarketable.
he wants to fight green before he fights the other champions to ensure a big payday.

Do you think Mundine would ruin his chance at fighting Green again. Mundine will fight against a guy who has little chance of winning.
A tomato can but apparently that word is to controversial to say

Then fight Green.

the fact pavlik fought hopkins at a higher weight is a poor excuse for someone trying to come to grips with facing their first defeat against a washed up ex champ(dont actually mean washed up but lost to calzaghe etc)
pavlik is a big guy and would walk around at a higher weight
jones jr has done it and pacquiao most recent
mcclellan said he would have been stronger cause he wouldnt have to struggle considering the last few pounds hurt the most and if you have the right preperation it should be done easily
mundine easily destroyed soliman who went the distance with winky wright who is better than rubio

Styles make fights, You cant compare opponents. Jermain Taylor is as good as Kessler and Pavlik beat him twice.
I dont think Mundine will get inside the same arena as Pavlik. Never mind same ring.

that was my point you can never predict what will happen in a fight or compare two boxers on the same previous opponent
cotto beat mosley who beat margherito who beat cotto
it was mentioned that mundine hasnt fought anyone as good as rubio in 9 fights
alot of mundines opponents arent as good as they should be but mundine still beats them the way he should
hopkins is a boxer similiar to mundine and mundine has attributes that could upset pavlik
then again pavlik could knock him out in the first round
geale is good but who has he fought a loser from contender is his biggest scalp
im not criticising geale he is a great boxer but this is just another way to look at it
if mundine could do well in america it will open doors for other ozzie boxers similiar to what katsidis has done for ozzie boxing
mundine may be a tool but inside the ring he is world class

I know what your saying. Ive often thought Mundines counterpunching style would be a hard matchup for Pavlik.
But you cant compare a true World class operator in Hopkins with Mundine. Hopkins has a granite chin, More ring smarts than anyone in the game today and isnt afraid to get in there and actually fight.
I see Mundine feeling Pavliks power early and getting on his bike to lose via 12 ud.
