Pathetic fight, pure target practise but I guess Pavlik is allowed a gimme seeing that he is two fights removed from his last gimme but coming off a defeat.

But has he improved or learnt any lessons? No Idea. He could have danced around the ring like Ali, doing the shuffle, punching in bunches and then settling down with tysonesq fury and it would have meant diddly. I can smash the bag like Ray Robinson with bolo punches, triple hooks, the lot. Never managed to land many bolos in the ring for real !!!!!

The point is that it was a sparring session. Hopkins exposed him for no plan B, no ability to adjust when plan A is failing, too plodding, too basic one-two, too static, too slow and too predictable. We will not know if he has learnt anything until the next time he faces some adveristy and fights someone with a bit of a boxing brain.

On the other hand, round card girls dominated my dreams once I hit the bed after the fight. I could have pole vaulted out of bed this morning.

did'nt think much of pavlik again, rubio was outmatched as expected, but pavlik's not that good IMO. he's just a very big middleweight that is strong and can punch, against some that will cause alot of problems against others you will find you will never a bit more than just size and power. his defense is shocking. an abraham vs pavlik fight is the one that needs to be made now.

I think he learned what weight he is, and obviously this gives him the size advantage and the powr advantage to be a good middleweight.

i just finished watching this and it was easy to forget after the BHop fight what a big middle Pavlik is. He will always have the beating of the likes of Rubio but when he comes up against another fighter who will be coming in at over 170 fight night he will struggle, for my money pavlik beats most including Sturm but Abrahams he wont.

Abraham will be hard to beat as he hits har,d picks the shots well, very compact. However Pavlik looks strong at the weight still, whereas Abraham is really having problems making 160. Sauelrand's finally admitted that AA is destined for 168 (only thing keeping AA at 160 is Pavlik he said).

Why would anyone jump up and fight Hopkins at light heavy? It was a silly idea for Pavlik to go along with. Hopkins only keeps winning because ppl fight to his terms and get spoiled...Sturm has a good jab if nothing else.

Abraham does have some form - despite the first fight, AA demolished Miranda in America. He beat Jantuah - and Jantuah stopped Pavlik victim Rubio in one. He stopped Ayala, who had drawn with Mora in his previous fight (Mora subsequentrly went 1-1 with Forrest). AA edged Eastman, and stopped Ikeke in 5 - Ikeke was a top 10 middle at the time, favoured by many. AA did Raul Marquez in 5, half thre time (half the # of shots, twice the power and economy that Jermain Taylor showed v the same foe). Elcock is the British champ (only Brit to beat Eastman). Koren Gevor is the EBU champ, stopped brutally by AA...Yes a lot of what AA's done is sort of "indirect" and shifty but to say he's not proven world class is a bit much.

He also has stoppages of Nader Hamden (who went 12 with Mundine)

Arthur is not "completely unproven on the world stage" and there is more to his style than you give him credit for. The lethargy is due to his weight woes.

Pavlik barely beat Taylor and is looking to fight John Duddy.

Abraham's an accurate puncher, and if he lands Pavlik would be all over the place. Pavlik's workrate would worry Abraham, but Abraham is capable of stopping Pavlik.

Fair play what I meant was he hasn't mixed in the same class as Pavlik has with his Taylor/Hopkins outings. Arthur has fought some decent contender types and looked good but raised as many questions as hes answered. Especially the disputed Miranda win, the low workrate/lethargy. Regardless of the reason why a low workrate Eurobot isn't beating Pavy who's looked better in what hes done outside of the Hops fights

If we assume their is no KO can you seriously see Arthur either outworking or outboxing Pav? Follow that famous saying 'always go with the best boxer'

I think AA's a future star of world boxing, I really do. European fighters seldom go for the jugular in terms of going for the big fights (Haye, Froch being exceptions in their attitude) but all the same I belive in their abilities which are often hinted at by canny matchmaking. I think AA has gone from an incredibly raw slugger to a nice precision power puncher. I will admit, I believe his promoter have brought over the cheapest comp, the comp with the least power. But I do think AA has been in some decent fights, stopping the British champ, stopping the current EBU champ, destroying the guy who's level with the Contender winner/former WBC 154 champ.

Most ppl seem to hate AA's performance v Marquez. But I loved his accuracy and economy when he was obviously hurting himself grinding down to 160. Jermain Taylor was wanging away, throwing big combos. Arthur just edges in, chooses a sharp punch or two, edges out yet still does the job quickly.

I think Pavlik's workrate and fitness will give AA hell, but I also believe AA can tag him cleanly and hurt him. Hopefulyl this fight happens. 2 punchers, it could be like MCClellan c Julian jackson 1, or Benn v McClellan. IMO Abraham beats Pavlik but may not be able to beat any of the super middle champs.

No WAY does he beat Abrahams easily, Abraham is a wicked wicked fighter and would beat Pavlik. By the way I am a massive Pavlik fan but Arthur is good, really good.

Totally agree, and his balance is appalling.

What the heck is Bunce doing calling for a rematch with Hopkins? They could fight ten times and he would lose to Hopkins ten times.

And I noticed that he did not call out Hopkins in the post-match interview, he just talked about Abraham and Sturm.

Then again, in fairness to Bunce he was great on Sunday morning, kept me awake, was quite funny.
