Barring a last minute reprieve, the WBC as we know it will be out of business this month. A note on the Mexico City-based sanctioning organization's website states...
"Dear Friends:
Our history has come to an end. As [the] WBC has filed for chapter 7 and total liquidation, this page will be active until July 9. But the memories and accomplishments of the WBC will live forever in the world of boxing."

I think the important key phrase here is "...the WBC as we know it will be out of business this month"

Well, I know the WBC has had its criticms, but this is a travesty. I could see Rocchigiani's view point but the money he attained was absolutely rediculous.

That is probably correct Neil, do you think it will be the same power should it return. Most people seem to forget the differences regarding the World Boxing Federation / Foundation. Do you think the WBC will be able to make the transition so smoothly. I think they would have to be quick with their plans, because the current world boxing council champions will be looking at other options when they do fold.

i really dont see how it will be any different to what it is now. the new "Commission" instanly issues the same rankings, champions and mandatory challengers as the mighty "council" once did. along with the same rules, constitution and 'values'

Well done Rochiggiani if you ask me. Good to see a fighter shafting one of the alphabet boys instead of vice versa. When you see how the WBC have shafted fighters in the past (see Injin Chi and Michael Brodie) I couldn't but help smile.. Thing is, I'd imagine that Rochiggiani's pretty unlikely to see any of that money, but he got his own back on the WBC, that's for sure.

Too bloody right. Rocchigiani might not have made that many millions with the WBC title but the WBC blatantly robbed him for their own gains. For that they owe much more that just a cheque for what Graciano should have earned.
