John Duddy - Darren Barker

For all his popularity Duddy isn’t anything special, I reckon Barker would beat him on points.

Would definitely like to see Barker more active (I know about the long layoff after his brother's sad death) but defending the Commonwealth against someone like Kasim Ouma would be a good move, or maybe even Walid Smichet. When watching the Duddy scrap I even thought that Vanda would be a good 10 round international opponent for Barker right now.

I think Andy Lee might have the same idea - isn't he down to fight Smichet?

Although I think it's an even match up on paper, Duddy is a much biger name from a marketing stand point. His team have done a great job in establishing his name in America, so I don't see him coming back to Britain to fight someone like Barker. He'll end up fighting Pavlik for a seven figure payday and probably get knocked out. After that maybe things will change if Barker keeps winning.

I've personally not thought of Darren as a small middleweight since his comeback. Certainly doesn't look all that small in person and hardly looks to carry any extra weight that could be lost

I think Duddy will drop down to Light Middle..Pavlik would tear him apart just because of his size.

I thought he still looked easy to hit. His head movement was poor and he just pumpoed out the jab, whilst taking shots in return. Vanda had a good output and success rate. Duddy will never be able to adapt. On Saturday he was hittable yet was boring at the same time. He should revert back to type. Reminds me of when Gatti became a 'master boxer', against lesser names sure, as soon as he got into a real fight he either had no answer (Floyd) or was out-gunned (Baldo).

IMO Duddy makes Gatti look like Sugar Ray Robinson, i think he's more Micky Ward. Entertaining yes, future Champion NO

some days my boxing appetite cries out for a Mickey Ward - not every boxers has the silk of an Ian Napa and a PBFM - I'm not sure which fighter I like most Duddy the Brawler or Duddy the Boxer!

I definitely prefer him as the boxer - if he turns brawler then his face seems to take a pounding, against not great opposition too.

it seems like it's gonna have to take alot to stop duddy because he does have a very good chin, and he has that desire to keep on coming no matter what, but the fact is he's defensively shit, and any fighter can eventually be broken down regardless of how good their chin is if their taking too many punches.

Let`s be honest here, Duddy is still a way off world class. The middleweight division isn`t exactly the toughest around at the moment though.

Throw him in with Geale, it would be a good yardstick to see what they both are made of.
