Is Lockett injured

Post by steve richards »

If Gary lockett is injured (knee tendon) can anyone tell me why he was jumping up and down shouting at him fellow fighters? personally i recon he bottled it against Elcock, He looked well over weight as well, a few people that spoke around the venue recon his arse has gone, about 200 elcock fans have lost there ticket money because of him, IMO he deserves fornicate all.

Oh yeah, on Sky. Up and down, shaking fists, screaming etc. He was first row.

Lockett pulled out a week before the fight with a damaged tendon in his right knee. "I'm absolutely gutted," he said. "I had become the forgotten man of British boxing and really wanted this chance. I am very, very confident I would have beaten Elcock.
"I first had a problem with the knee about two weeks before my last fight (a stoppage win over Matt Galer last month).
"It felt a little sore but I thought it was just a little knock and I didn't take much notice.
"But after the fight, when I got up to do some interval work and sprint training it felt really painful.
"Gone are the days when I might have gone into a fight not fully prepared. With title chances at stake I couldn't take that risk, so I had to pull out.
"I've been told the only cure is rest so that's what I'm doing at the moment."

I have got to be honest if all the boys would have gone down and saw lockett jumping up and down after being out of pocket there would have been a fuckin riot, the guy is well over weight, he was jumping like a gymnast, myself i think he bottled it, and a few people who my mate spoke to at the show(welsh people) recon his arse has gone again, Elcock has lost a payday, all his fans could'nt get refunded because it was called off late, Elcock was well gutted and rightly so, i dont think this fight will happen now, Locketts bottle has gone IMO all the respect i had for lockett has now gone

Hopefully elcok can go straight in there with Eugenio Montero and if he wins, maybe force a fight with lockett.

Elcock has to wait for Lockett, which is bollocks, it would be nice for wayne to box 30th July card in bethnal green against Montero but knowing SN they will proberbly make him wait for Lockett.

Steve, whilst I can appreciate you being p****d off that the fight didn't happen (I was annoyed to, as although I didn't travel to Cardiff, I was looking forward to the fight) I find it hard to believe that Lockett (or any fighter) would 'bottle' it. was there some background (pay dispute, etc.) that was going on?

Yeah I doubt Lockett is exactly running scared of the light punching Elcock. I'm sure he's looking foward to landing a few bombs on that dodgy chin come Spetember.
More likely a weight issue I'd guess.

And this, I can understand. I don't blame you for being furious about this but I do dispute that Lockett is 'bottling' it. That's why I was asking if there is some 'political' reason?

Why was lockett there jumping up and down? and how can there be a political reason, they are with the same promoter?, a few people who we were supposed to go with went to the fight, they were talking with the genuine welsh fight fans, they reconed lockett did'nt want the fight, dont forget lockett fight before fast was a bad decision against monaghan, which anyone watching knew he had lost, but got the desicion because he was in wales.

Dunno, mate and not disputing anything you say. I was just supposing that maybe there had been some dispute over money or something like that? Maybe Lockett was jumping up and down to make a point to his promoter? I really don't know and do have sympathy for you and your mates. I'd be gutted if I was in the same position but was just trying to speculate on reasons other than Lockett 'bottling' it as I can't believe that any fighter genuinely lacks bottle. Hope we get some light shed on his soon as it looks like a great match-up.

I don't think the fight will happen myself, This fight has been mad weeks ago, before they both fought other people and the money was all agreed, so i can't imagine there was anything like that, I recon Lockett was over weight but you will never know, What i do know is that Team Elcock was well pissed off, and the guy had trained like a mad fornicator, the whole thing stinks, knowone found out until thursay evening, I was reported in the welsh press the week before, so yet again Spunkswaxyworks do another to job of letting everyone know, 150 people cant get a refund, so spent the night in the pub with a coach outside, I've wrote a shitty letter but surprise surprise no reply,. :x
