I think Jennings would beat him. Jennings is a good fighter, very skilled, he just met a true great last night no shame in that.

Brook needs to step up defo, but in stages, I'd but him in with Watson or Matt Hatton then go for Jennings

Oh come on! Brook is British Champion, and Jennings is a British title level fighter.

It would be an ideal match up.

Get Brook in with a fighter who is at his level- that is the best way to go.

I have my doubts about Jennings at this time. He didn't even show up against Cotto, which was sad to see.

I think he did it was just the fighter that was in front of him that made it look that way....

I thought Jennings had a decent game plan, keep the fight at length for the first few rounds and gradually try and step it up and land some heavier shots on Cotto. Unfortunately for him once he started doing this, Cotto started countering him and hitting him with the sort of body shots he certainly won't have been used to. We all know the gulf that exists between domestic and world class and Jennings gave it a go.

Brook v Jennings is a great fight. Kell isn't going to be closing down the ring with a tight guard like Cotto and I doubt his power is anywhere near that level. Jennings looks to have the edge in most departments imo (speed, skills, footwork) but then Brook is still improving.

Get it on Frank!

brook to beat loyd rnd 1-3 then fight jennings for the wbu ,with the winner of that fight defending a few times till cotto vacates and then fighting for the vacant wbo! :TU:

prob the best fight out there domesticly for brook to get a test and with not to great a risk in that jenning is not a massive puncher,.might get to see brook open his lungs a bit and see how he looks later on in a fight!

hope it comes off :box:

I thought Jennings did okay, better than most expected. He gave it a real go and showed a lot of bravery for getting up after a couple of knockdowns. He also landed a couple of decent shots but it was clearly only a matter of time.

I think at his age now though he should come down to British/Euro level and go for a few titles and get a few more pay days then call it quits.

I really rate Kel Brook I think he's going to go on to be a massive star, I think he rips through the rest of the British contenders in Mutley, Lomax, Jennings, Watson if he so desires. Personally I'd like to see him take on 1 of those followed by the European champion (Rafal Jackiewicz) if allegedly can tempt him over with a good payday.

The world is Kel Brooks oyster IMO

Cant see him being world class, Cotto was much better at the same stag of his career. But who know's.

Cottos a very tough yardstick to measure him against, I'm really looking forward to seeing Kel step up in class to see if he can answer some of the outstanding questions around him such as stamina, chin and defence

Chambers and Southpaw on the ball.
Depends what Wazza wants to do.
He can't lose with this one.
Matt Hatton can spout all he wants.
Wazza working with Ray ? - I DONT THINK SO.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens next for Brook. There are certainly some good domestic fights potentially, but equally allegedly might move him down the European route.

(I'm assuming that Brook's fight against Lloyd goes ahead, and Brook wins.)

As for Jenning's I'm sure there will be doors open for him now if he chooses too, but I'd say Jennings has more to lose than Brook from this fight. Given his age a defeat , especially a stoppage, might limit Jenning's career opportunities.

Jennings Brook could headline a decent sized venue too, and would make the best Friday Fight night for years.

Sky don't show WBU fights anymore. So, hopefully it will be a British title fight.

i didnt know that and have to thats good news. I cant believe a fighter would call myself a world champ after winning that strap. Saying that according to Micky Ward's book when he beat Neary he thought he was :o
Dominic Negus was the same in his book- and what he won wasn't even the WBU's full title, it was their intercontinental title (or similar!)

Good fight this. Jennings should probably get a confidence building fight in beforehand though.

Hasnt Jennings already beating the current European Champion? Maybe Brook/Jennings could be an official eliminator?

Cotto has the advantage of being an Arum fighter and a Rican In America though.

Plus If Cotto was so great he wouldn't of got beat by Margarito and hurt by guys like Corley.

Kell hasthe potential to at least match Cotto's achievements - he has the tools but needs time and some tough fights to develop. kell can reach cotto's level in 2-3 yrs in my humble opinion

One poster in this thread said that jennings has the edge over kell in most departments - speed, footwork and skills were mentioned i think. I have to respectfully disagree - i think kell has the edge in all depts other than experience, most decisvely power and handspeed. i'd take kell to KO jennings and maybe even do the job even quicker than cotto

no disrespect to jennings but i think he is just slightly on the slide whereas kell is blossoming and very hungry - the best young british fighter for some years, in my humble view

I don't want to get off topic, but the Puerto Rican people haven't given Cotto that much respect because of these things. And to Cotto, that's probably all that matters. Trinidad is a national hero in Puerto Rico and Juan Manuel Lopez is already starting to eclipse Cotto in popularity. Guys like Santos and Cotto don't get as much recognition or respect in Puerto Rico.

And apparently, the film version (starring Marky Mark!) finishes with Ward winning the world title!

Back on topic, I think Kell would beat Jennings, probably on points.

What is your opinion about his best weight? because i know he is fighting at 147 but he seems small. of course i way be wrong and it just could be the illusion of TV as i am yet to see him live in flesh.
I think he looks small as well. I'd love to know what he weighs on fight night. Light welterweight Victor Ortiz weighed 154 lbs in the ring in his last fight. I'm not sure Brook would even weight that much.

Personally if we on this forum are looking for the next big star in the UK - look no further than Kel Brook - as long as he remains at "The Ingles" and people let them deal with his career then IMO he goes far - the only other trainer who seems to have a real connection with him is Dave Coldwell - and I am told the only reason why Brook is not still with him is down to "politics".

i don't think that kell is a 'small' welter but getting back down to 140 is definitely on the agenda and i wouldn't be surprised to see kell move down to light-welter before taking on world class opponents
