it looks like he is gone down to super middle according to the sky sports website. they have some quotes from him where he said he found the 3 minute rounds long.

however on most other sites he is still down as light heavy.

He said on Bunces hour a while back when he had signed with Hobson he was going to fight at super middle. Is a come down when you figure the amater weight of light heavy is 178 3 lbs higher than the paid ranks. Saying though Isn't Andre Ward fighting at super middle also, he won the Athens Olympics at light heavy.

Cheers

The difference often is that amatuer you need to maintain weight pretty constantly with club shows happening every week and you never know when you will be fighting. With this in mind you probably weigh slightly more than if you were targetting a weight for one night on a certain and known date.

If he was 12st 10 consistantly a certain amount of that would have been walk around weight. To make 12 stone for just five minutes one night every 6 weeks or so should not be too much of a problem in theory

I cannot lie and say I know if he is or isn't. Never met him and find TV very distorting. I was talking generally about ability to make weight, why he has done it and the theory that an amatuers weight is pretty much an in shape, trained but slightly walk around weight. Nutrition, full time training, time to plan your diet and only having to hit the weight for a short period rather than sustain it should make it pretty comfortable for him.

Sorry fella, we were talking different things.

He would be very big at that weight but It would be better to see him at LHW because him at SMW is just making hype for a fight with Sutherland way too soon and at LHW it would just be him and he gets a nice record then possibly move down and the fights with the others will make sense

A 10-pound drop sounds like a lot to be honest, especially considering how much weight these guys are already cutting. But maybe he makes weight at 178 easy. Why is Degale fighting at 168? I think he should stick at 160 for a while. If he can make 160 as an amateur, making it as a pro shouldn't be as difficult.

I was thinking the same thing about Degale. I know he's only young and probably still growing with the training and developing but it would make more sense to start at 160 and move up if/when he can't make it.
