Williams to base himself in the states.

Post by stujones »

According to Teletext, Danny Williams has decided to base himself in America for his upcoming bout with Mike Tyson. It wasn't clear from the quotes as to this move is perminant or whether it is just for this fight.

With only 3 weeks left to go (one of which should be a cooling down week) I'd like to know, what benefit is this going to do for this one fight - its too little, too late IMO.

I hope he moves out perminantly and at least tries to fulfil his potential, win, lose or draw against Tyson.

yeah, lol tried getting through to him today to find out he's staying in the US. Guess i'll have to interview him after the fight.

But he needs to be out there. Become comfortable with all the attention, press etc, and relax. And obviously the sparring and facilities are a lot better.

I can't remember when Danny knew of this fight, but he should have booked the first available flight - I agree he has to stay out there to acclimatise mentally and physically.

However, I just don't think 2 weeks of sparring is going to radically change him.

He probably won't be at his best that night.

Makes sense. If he needs to lose weight, he wont have any trouble in Kentucky where it'll be in the high 90's.
I wonder what he's thinking right now - confident? Or getting ready to jump the first flight out of there?
Let's hope we dont see any KFC headlines after the fight!

I believe he's training at Gleason's in New York. It's a good move for a man who has been close to 19st in his three fights this year.
