I like Steve commentary, he definitely knows his stuff about boxing....not to sure about strongman though!!!

eurosport boxing without steve holdsworth would be a disaster. he brings a wealth of knowledge that no one else can bring, amateur, pro, matchmaker,manager, promoter, m.c, the guy has done it all, maybe he tells the truth but whats wrong with that, a refreshing change from the rest who are too worried about their income to be objective.if its true i will be writing to eurosport and i hope others will to.Boxing is a specialist sport that requires an expert eye to comment on it. him and bob mee are a great team [as was colin hart]!

I found him annoying, particularly in the mid 90s when Eurosport had access to big fights.

Hig drama moments of Riddick Bowe and Roy Jones fights and Steve was ignoring the action and jabbering on about the WBU and the IBC and the IBA and came across as irreprably cynical.

Hes certainly no Ian Darke.

I agree and disagree with Steve Holdsworth's opinions and comments, but so what, that's life!

He is very knowledgable and i respect the fact he's put his money where his mouth is and done all sorts of different roles in boxing.

I like Steve's commentary. If a fight is rubbish he isn't afraid to say as much.

Lol I must be living in a parallel universe; Steve Holdsworth is terrible (though I do find his bumbling amusing).

The guy is in a constant state of confusion, he gets everything mixed up, and the facts he throws out are usually incorrect.

Worst of all his co-presenter has to correct him constantly and lead him round like a not to bright puppy.

I used to rate Holdsworth as a commentator, but in the last few years IMO has gone off the boil. Bob Mee, who I thought did an excellent job as the "main" man last night, has such an amazing wealth of knowledge that he will, often and not intentionally, show Steve's knowledge limitation up... and now we will hear Steve talk more and more about his pro/amateur career... I don't know if its to try and tell Bob "I've been there" or what, but I do not like it.

I do find it strange that Steve was the main commentator for the the Urango vs Ngougjo fight when it was broadcast live. They usually just replay the whole commentary. I hope he is okay anyway. I think he is an okay commentator, and I did like him on that Channel 5 version of the contender.... I think most commentators will struggle to look knowledgeable when they have Bob Mee alongside them (which is a compliment to Bob who I think has been brilliant on the mike, and I find it strange he hasn't been picked up earlier).

Totally agree with all you say. I remember him saying once "tonights boxing is utter rubbish". Bob Mee is brilliant too.

Perhaps Steve has been given some Prozac a fortnight in the Maldives as whenever I've listened to him he always seems on the brink of suicide, honestly, I think if a fighter came in to a RadioHead tune that would be it, Steve would reaching for the Wilkinson Sword.

He does know his stuff, a little too assured of his own scoring, "thats a 10-9 round to Itchibumov then".

I loved the time him AND Bob got the fighters the wrong way round for an entire fight, though the journeyman had stopped the prospect. Classic telly that one.

It was crackerjack. Steve's a good commentator, a refreshing change from Voice over man on Sky.
