Can anyone recall how many times Frank Bruno crossed himself on his way to the ring against Mike Tyson in the rematch?

Why are you knocking Frank? :x he done his best, worked hard for it and was a darn sight more entertaining in the ring than Audely Harrison!.
How many of you guys have faced Tyson!... at least Frank didn't pull a sickie! .....remember, he wasn't the first (or last) man to be worried about facing Tyson, .....Lewis didn't fight him till he was well shot! does that make Lewis brave?.... I think not!.

poor ol frank did look a bit shit scared that night

although i still think he was fighting alright until his eye cut, forget which one now

left i think.

tyson's style was all wrong for frank.

It was SEVEN. Holyfield did it as well in the first fight so it meant nothing as to how FB was feeling. Lay off him Bennie.

It's a legit question, I don't think there was any dig at Frank implied, so get off your pulpit extremebox, christ almighty, you really are a pompous git.

Holyfield was crossing himself for entirely different reasons. He was full of self belief, and was merely showing his faith.

Bruno admitted in a recent interview, that the second fight with Tyson, was the only time he entered the ring scared about what was about to happen, there is no shame in that. Frank was already way past his best at that point, and he knew he didn't have a chance. In their first fight, Bruno genuinely fancied his chances, and it showed.

Do people think Frank still has a realistic chance of returning, like he was mentioning last year? Or with his problems has that gone out of the window.

Last time I saw Frank on TV, he said that he realised that his desire to come back was unrealistic, and he realised that it was partly because of his state of mind that he saw a comeback as a viable option, it probably chased the demons away having the thought of returning to boxing.

I have to say, Shame on Audley for wanting to fight Frank, poor guy.

At the time he was keen to pose in the ring with Bruno and ask the crowd if they wanted to see the two men fight....don't you remember, it's when Herbie Hide went spazzo and started linging plastic chairs around.

Danny Williams won't cross himself he's a Muslim!

Bruno would have done Audley - bold statement maybe but I know the big man and he would have been too strong for Audley even after a long break.

Besides, Bruno may have said he was scared but he still went in and should be respected for that. Scared fighters can be dangerous fighters.

I doubt very much whether Bruno would have had the legs any more, and christ he would have been slower than shit through a funnell. At his peak he was always well conditioned, but his stamina was always suspect due to the excess muscle tissue he was carrying. You would still have to give Bruno a chance just on punchpower alone. But at 42 and 7 years out of the ring, not advisable to come back, George Foremans are rarer than hen's teeth.

Having said that, I feel Bruno was a little underrated in his prime, he had better boxing ability than he was given credit for, people seem to forget that he was outboxing Lennox Lewis for 7 rounds before Lewis found the punch to turn the fight around. His primary problem was his lack of versatility and his inability to protect himself when under fire, and as his career progressed, he became heavier and heavier, and slower and slower.

I know someone who trained with Bruno as an amateur, and they remarked that as an amateur he was far more fleet of foot and flexible, before he started lifting weights. Bruno had a pretty meteoric rise as an amateur and deserves his place amongst the best heavyweights this country has produced.

hmmm......i dunno about that mac,
a few people were actually tipping bruno to pull of the upset in the second bout i seem to remember, and there was a definate feeling of anti climax when it stopped so quickly.
bruno had strung together some decent performances around that time and people were talking about how much his defence had improved.
tyson was going through another bad patch outside the ring and his entourage wound frank up good style. frank was fuming.
i think most people fancied tyson, but thought frank might give him a scare, alas it never happened.
btw i think bruno would have knocked out harrison, williams, skelton and hide.
