Paul Fleming?
He represented Australia in the Olympics last year. How does he look? Does he have a bright future?
Re: Paul Fleming?
He's fighting Percy Samson on the 14th of March, Percy hasn't had a win yet in 3 attempts, and i don't think he will on the 14th either.
Re: Paul Fleming?
Fleming's people seem to be working on the "warm bodies" principle. In his first fight Fleming KOed poor Shane Green who is 40 years old and has won one fight in a nine year career.
Once Fleming fights somebody with ability we will have some idea of his potential.

Good prospect with a big future. Has some flash and can really box. Underrated punching power too. Managed by Mike Altamura and the legendary Cameron Dunkin, and promoted by Bob Arum, he's going to go a long long way.

Really? I didn't know Fleming was involved with Dunkin & Arum that says an awful lot about how his potential is viewed.
I'm guessing there bedding him in to the pro's in Australia before bring him to fight in America after he's had a few fights.
Re: Paul Fleming?
At the moment he is being trained and promoted by his longtime coach at the shamrock gym in maroochydore.
Looked very sharp in his first fight, although as has been pointed out this can only indicate so much.

Re: Paul Fleming?
Yes that is correct. Mike Altamura (who is Australian and business partners with Dunkin) and Paul's trainer Mike Foley are planning to get him started gradually in Aust this year and give him some grounding, and then to head over to the USA a bit later in the year for a fight or two on a Top Rank big fight undercard. Then return for a few months but with the intent that Paul will possibly be based out of either California or Las Vegas by 2010.
From memory he's the first Australian to sign with an international promoter from the get-go in many years. He has great management, and a very good trainer too so the future is bright, but I'm sure there be many learning steps. Only time will tell how far he will go, but he has the backing to do it I'd say.
Next in the ring March 14. They should keep him active from there.

Mike Foley does run a great gym, I trained there for a few weeks before work commitments overtook and it was the hardest sessions I had done in the gym, makes a huge difference training alonside Pro's.ftpromotions wrote:Yes that is correct. Re: Paul Fleming?
I headed down to the fights last night.
The boy was sensational! Kayoed the guy on the 3:00 mark of round 1 with a 8-punch barrage. I know the opponent was nothing flash, but the boy oozes class. So fast handed, quick footed, and evasive like Hamed. His punching power has progressed too and he puts his shots together really well. Has the relaxed poise of an established pro and it is going to be fun to see him develop. A real talent he is.
But most important. He is still a very nice and polite lil fella. Has good manners. Very impressive.
The undercard featured another few pros and some wild amateur Polive versus Firemen matches. One Fireman got flattened!

I spoke with Cameron Dunkin and he told me they want him to have maybe 10 fights and then they'll look to bring him to America.
