That was fecking breathtaking. Great fight by both men, extravagant action, top-tier stuff. Classic fight.

I could watch JMM all night. If you walk to him, you're gonna get hurt. Great start by Diaz, but you could see the impact of Marquez's shots by the fifth or sixth, every time Marquez landed that shoeshine combo to the head, big feckoff left hook or right hook to the body Diaz jiggled all the way through his skeleton.

The finish was amazing. The first knockdown it looked like Diaz had run into a wall, that big straight right hurt him so badly, then the left hook bodyshot-right uppercut to put him down on his back, fecking brilliant.

To beat JMM you must counterpunch & force him to lead, you'll never ever break his heart.

JMM = God.

This was boxing at its highest level.

Most "elite" fighters and pound for pounders are very good fighters like Diaz, who are matched right and looked after. Marquez is that level above, one of the true modern greats.

ppl can get excited about watching Hopkins or Mayweather NEGATE somebody. But what Marquez did to Diaz is true brilliance.

Almost a shame the end was so emphatic, as it would have made a great series.

I reckon Marquez will move up chaing Pac, and Diaz will be first in line. He fought a terrific fight, was exciting, drew a good crowd. I get the feeling GBP were hoping for the Diaz win, but as they say he enhanced himself in defeat in many ways.

Even my missus loved the JMM Diaz fight. I've texted a few pals to make sure they catch it. No sports fan can not love quality like that.
It had everything, fantastic pace, changes in momentum, brilliant atmoshphere and a dramatic, conclusive finish.

Just watched it on the Setanta Freeview. Absobutely quality fight. Marquez is just such an understated fighter with a persona to match. Even whilst he allowed, or not, Diaz to back him up and outpunch him blocking most or taking enough he still landed with economical shots. His left uppercut was a thing of real beauty even through Diaz' ability to impose his will. Terrific fight.

I thought the commentary was barking up the wrong tree. JMM took Diaz on at his own game, took the steam off him and was 4-4 on my card going into the crucial rounds, with Diaz fading. Stirring stuff from both men, but JMM was that little bit too clever. Had to laugh at Big Bob Sheridan though, he loves his job!

Lovely uppercut, you could see the cracks showing in Diaz's work, I half-expected JMM to take over around the 10th but he put the after-burner on early.

He only had Marquez wobbled once and even then he was nowhere near as close to going down as they made out. What a fight, a definate fight of the year contender. I'd been giving JMM the BIG build up to my Dad prior to the fight saying what a class act he was, which usually results in the boxer putting on a stinker, but JMM was awesome. It was a proper toe-to-toe brawl, respect to Juan Diaz as wellas JMM for making it the fight it was.

Hopefully JMM gets the winner of Hatton-Pacman

Incredible stuff. Marquez seems to get better and better. Since he's gotten older he's adopted a much more aggressive style, and seems to be able to really bang at lightweight. He absolutely mauled Diaz, the way he cranked up the pressure was great to watch.

agreed. Diaz was doing very well but the commentary failed to pick up on how the bout was shifting round by round towards Marquez. He had more variety, looked to work the body and was picking his shots. Excellent display by Marquez.
