Ricky Hatton lb4lb bullshit again

Post by Finch »

I'm gonna be lb4lb king when i beat Manny blah blah blah. No one from Britain has ever been lb4lb before, i'm gonna make history.

If you're that fornicating good, why don't do the business at more than just junior welterweight !

Get what you are saying. If he beat Pacman then he’s fairly high on the p4p list just because of beating the widely considered number one but you can’t get that high while only fighting in one division successfully.

why? Hopkins reigned supreme at middle for years calzaghe at super middle for years Kostya stayed at light welter, why move up to a division where you simply arent linear and big enough ?

fucked up argument. Weight hopping is vastly overated and one of the reasons we never know who the fornicate is the best in any division.

Look at PBF at light welter never fought the top lads there, that an issues then is it by the same token? No didnt think so.

Its a nonsense, YOU DONT HAVE TO WEIGHT HOP TO BE TOP 5 P4P.

in fact id prefer if people didnt and just fought at their natural wegihts.

No problem with people moving up in weight if 1. they have cleared out the division and beat the best at their weight and 2. they have outgrown the weight.

other than that it is part of the problems boxing has had over the past few years not the solution it gives leverage for people not to fight the best in the weight class.

Well even if he beats Pacman you can’t think he belongs above someone like Marquez who perhaps hasn’t cleared out his division but has established himself as the definite number one and is about to move up.

Respect your argument, but Hatton oftens claims he wants to go up and down the weights, then he doesn't then he does. He's going to come in at 11st on the night, hardly not big enough to move up a weight is it ? To me that says he's in his comfort zone and scared to face the likes of Cotto, Margarito, Mosely. Yeah he faught PBF but that was really a no lose situation for him.

depenDs if marquez loses his next fight for example what you gonna say then?

and its got fornicate all to do with moving up in weight just who marquez has been beating.

Chnces are if Hatton beat Pac then Marquez will be next anyway so then you will have your answer DEFINITIVELY.

he cant get to p4p by beating one guy although it is someone who is "considered" the best current p4p by some...(marquez argument aside). As I understand it you have to fight and beat a number of opponents and show skill enough that you get regarded as someone who would beat most of the current boxers at any weight....there are much more knowledgable guys on here who have come up with good definitions of p4p..so dont shoot for my def :p

But you can just imagine joe public reading The sun with cursory interest in boxing swallowing it hook line and sinker.. (No offence to the sun or its readers..)

Marquez has a good shout anyway, yes he lost a razor thin decision to Pac last year but since then he's beaten Casamayor and Diaz, stopping both while Pac has beaten the fairly limited but tough David Diaz and an old out of sorts Oscar De La Hoya.

Irrespective of weight, if Hatton beats the current number 1 and 2 and in doing so beats the pound for pound number 1 in consecutive fights I don’t think you can really argue anyone else should be above him but that’s a pretty big if.

Finch i dont agree, you fight at the weight you are best at, that was hattons problem against floyd fought on his terms cos he thought it wouldnt make a difference. Maybe it would have maybe it wouldnt who knows.

Howwevfer we do know it did against Collazzo.

Yes he may come in near 11 stone on the night how much do you think Margerito comes in at?

Exactly........... flawed argument.

Do you honestly think hatton is scared? He fought Kostya Zoo when he was p4p number 2 (stfu all you clever feckers who after the event who now claim kostya was on the slide there werent too many of you around pre fight.)

Ill say it again Hatton isnt linear enough for Welter.

Its like asking Uusain bolt to run the 400 cos he won the golds easy at the olympics is he also in his comfort zone?

nope thats what he is best at.

Also yes I agree weight hopping is overrated, Tszyu and Hagler stayed in one weight class their whole careers but it doesn't affect their standing.

Quite right. Hatton is a physical bully, he lacks massive punchpower or bliding speed and agility - he relies on being able to outstrength his opponents and suffocating them - although against Malignaggi he went back to more educated pressure like in his earlier years.

For me Hatton lacks the big skillsets which I think you have to have to be top dog - kind of proven by the fact he has fared so badly as soon as he steps up.

So Hatton's saying hes better than Hopkins, Darchinian, Joan Guzman, Marquez, Mosley, Wladdy, Dawson, Haye? He never even proved himself best 140lber in the North of England let alone P4P no1. If Pacquaio cocks this up we'll never hear the end of it

The thing is Hatton may well beat Pacquaio and Marquez due to him being naturally bigger and stronger, put him in with someone naturally bigger and stronger at the weight above like Mosley, Margarito and Cotto and I think we know the result. Doesn't that make a mockery of the term Pound 4 Pound?

Hattons style and physical stature is not suited to weight hopping, but at his weight he's a beast. If all fighters were hypothetically 140 then Hatton very well could emerge as the P4P best.

Ricky beat Tszyu who was no lower than P4P 3 when Hatton defeated him, and if he beats Manny then he'll be beating the current consensus No.1. Be very interesting to know if any other fighter has beaten men that hugly rated on the P4P lists and still not been credited with the top spot position. Give Hatton some bloody credit, He beats Manny Pac he'll have certainly earned it!

Disagree!!!

If Ricky Hatton beats the Pacman it not only will be a tremendous achievement in my view it will place him at the very top of the pound for pound ratings - until - PBF comes out of retirement.

People on here get on my tits - loads of tossers wiae after the event.

If Hatton beats Pacquaio then its a bloody good win and he would have Pacquiao and Tsyzu on his resume, thats good enough for me.

Too many people on here are just content to slag everyone off.

Calzaghe - ooh he is a pussy cos he won't fight Froch and Dawson, the Kessler fight was close (was it bollocks)
Khan - ooh he is an arrogant twat, how?? MAB will smash him (cue backtracking and MAB was washed up if Khan wins)

And the latest one that DeGale is arrogant!! - those who boo'd him at the weekend should be ashamed.

Sometimes its hard to be British listening to some of the tosspots on here.

Aye, he's too big for Manny Pac and will destroy Manny.

Hope Hatton does it. :DD

Marquez will always be Manny's master though JMM was horribly robbed twice.

Pacquiao has been doing a Hatton picking the guys at the right time and big draws get gifts and they probably don't want to upset the phillipines if he loses as they love him there politically and hero wise. First fresh guy like Marquez and his limitations are exposed.
