I think you need to be more specific and back your argument up.
When you've done so, I'll gladly put a counter argument forward.
You're not just saying he's not a particularly good boxer, you're saying he shouldn't be a pro.

Sod it, I'll get my ten penneth in now.
Ross had a good amateur career, and was an ABA finalist in 2005, and a semi finalist in 2006.
He started I think when he was 11 and has stayed loyal to Glyn Rhodes throughout.
He joined the light infantry in 2003 and boxed for the Army the following year.
He's still in the Rifles, and has received the Army's blessing by turning pro but still being an active serviceman.
Frank Maloney saw enough of him to give him a pro contract.
He's now had 8 fights, w5 l1 d2.
His loss came about when he had to retire hurt with a nasty shoulder injury and that led to an 8 month lay off.
Since then he's had a 1 round ko, and just recently took Robinson to a draw decision over 4.
Robinson was unbeaten.
I have known Ross since he was about 15.
A cocky arrogant little runt he was, but you couldn't help but take to him.
Ross has earned the right to be a pro boxer, and has matured into a great kid.
He's also performed well, and I hope goes on to bigger and better things.
I'm not saying he's gonna be a superstar but he's a decent boxer.
So - please back up why you don't think this kid is deserving of the right to be pro.

26 - I don't know what you think but Ross' personality comes over in his boxing quite a lot, I think.

He's a daft as a brush with a big heart and ends up - despite himself and Glyn - getting involved too much.

Lots of good about him but really needs a bit of work on holding back, picking his shots and, crucially, slipping attacks.

What do you think?

at 8st 8lbs there aren't that many fighters,Ive seen most of Ross's fights,and Im 100% certain he's good enough
ask Mike Holloway (he thinks Ross is far better than Mike Robinson)

If this thread is actually really about whether Ross is good enough to be a pro, then its a pretty stupid thread in my opinion.

The kid has talent, like Ian says, wears his heart on his sleeve a little too much sometimes but has talent and is exciting.
If it's about how far he can go, then i don't know. He's young, so when he settles down, and the division he operates in, he can go onto challenge and maybe win the major british titles.. anything is possible..look at Martin Rogan.

yes i am gary davies brother nothing to do with rivalry or jealousy at all i to was in the rifles and 2 boxed for the army just after ross turned pro and will agree that ross was a very very good amateur alls i meant would he have been better maybe waiting for a year thats all as i was told that his last fight he was very very lucky to get a draw but in army team he is very respected and so he should be i hope ross hits the big time and does really well i just think imo he might have been better waiting for a year so 26 stop trying to force an arguement because ive served in iraq with ross and have alot of respect for him and hope he does really really well as a pro didnt mean any offence was just looking if people think the same as me if they dont then thats ok everybody is entitled to a opinion thanks all post soon.

I sponsored Ross for his kit back in his am days.
I didn't really want to, but he wore me down !
Good days with the ams back then, with Ross and Ibbo - and this kid called Fewky ?!
I always hoped that Glyn could get one of his own all the way through to British level.
Glyn is vastly underestimated in my book.
There's still time with the right dedication.

No problems mate, equally wasn't looking to have a spat either.
Haven't seen him for a while mate, and missed the last fight due to work comitments.
Heard nothing about the next fight - too early really after the last one.
