Yeah, I think it was Sky's fight of the year. Always thought Ward was in control (and I have seen the fight very recently) - Neary had him hurt, but I don't think it was near to being stopped.headhunter wrote:neary/ ward was a cracking fight.
neary nearly stopped ward a few times but the iron chinned mickey ward just kept on coming back from the brink, and eventually stopped neary with body shots if my memory serves me right.
neary was never the same after his unbeaten record went. which is a pity because time has shown he went into the trenches with a modern warrior and nearly won.
i seem to remember mickey giving shea big props after the fight.
Mickey gave Ward huge props after, it was thoroughly deserved - Neary was certainly world class in his day.
