Mike Wilson

Post by Dancin' Dan »

Anyone know if he is planning on turning pro soon? Three time National Super Heavy champ. Beat many of today's young heavies already. Really thought he would make the Olympic team and think he would have faired much better than most but somehow he lost two one-two point decisions. One of which I thought he clearly won, but as they say thats boxing.

He is talented, not terribly huge and could add a bit of excitement to the pro scene if promoted well. Maybe someone could home grow him ala Virgil Hill in Southern Oregon where he resides.

Saw Mike in Colorado Springs in March. He told me he was going to have surgery on his hand, let it heal, and then go pro. I expect we'll hear more before the year is over.

Mike Wilson and trainer Dicky Wood are flying to Nashville Tn. To meet with a management team Feb 2, 2009. They hope to have Mike signed and in the ring
by the end of April 2009 for his first pro fight...

Good news. If Mike is serious he could go far. Not many two time National Champs out there. Travis Kaufman and Tarvis Walker have both already been on major shows - Wilson beat them both. Not sure why it would be with a promoter out of Tennessee though. Wish he'd stay on the west coast. Either way - best of luck and I hope he goes far.

I know Mike usually weighed 205-210 so he was a small SHW. How tall is he? I remember thinking that he was about 6'2" or so when I saw him. He is 25, soon to be 26, so he should get started soon. I hope they don't do what they do with a lot of guys and bulk him up too much. I would rather see him be able to move around the bigger slower guys than become one of them.

Mike Wilson the two time National Champ has gone PRO..
Just day's before his 26, birthday the 6/3 230lb Mike Wilson has gone pro.. Mike and legendary trainer Dicky Wood were
in Nashville, Tn Feb 2nd & 3rd to meet with Mike's Management team ,Curtis (Bubba) Hutson and Chris Rowland from Tenn. Mike will start
training camp in two week's in Miami Fla with Dicky for his April fight. He will then move his flamily to Colorda Springs Co,in May
to be with Dicky24/7 for training. Bubba and Chris both would like to see Mike in the ring 3 or 4 time's this year..but they're going
to leave that call for Dicky, becouse he knows what's best for Mike.

230 lbs sounds like they are bulking him up too much or he hasn't been training and will drop a bunch of weight between now and April.
