BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
Looking forward to this one more than most in some time.
For a non title fight, it's got more going for it than a lot of the other stuff out there: You've got a living legend, on everyone's fave list, who may or may not be past it - we're not sure - coming over to the Uk to give it to one of the most talented prospects we've seen ( let's face it ) in some time.
Add to that, the fact that our very own vunerable "Golden Boy" here is walking a tightrope - he's either going to be Top Dog, or he's going to be chased out of town - all inside 30 minutes. Or 10 secs.
It's going to be a helluva high wire act, and I really hope he does it. Box Monthly poll has it heavily in Khan's favour - but you just never know with this one.

I was really looking forward to Marquez vs Diaz last weekend. I knew that would be a good fight. This one should be too. I'm definitely going to be very excited on the night; I'm a fan of Amir Khan. Watching Marquez and Diaz made it obvious Khan can't compete with them, but Barrera's a different story...or is he?

Favour Barrera here as I think most people I have spoke with do. Can't justify paying the £15 or whatever this will cost with the risk I might be losing my job pretty soon. Will have to try and find a stream.
Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
Khan KO2 Barrera
D
Barrera is apparently in awesome shape and as MW says, this one is whetting the appetite alright.

Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
I really don't see this being competitive as a lot of others do. Barrera has never been a big hitter let along at 135 and fights very technical and passive as of late. Guys like Prescott who can bang and come out aggressively will be the ones to beat Khan and I don't see Barrera being able to do that. Of course their is the issue of Amirs glass chin but I think Khans advantages in size, speed, and youth will allow him to take control and score a stoppage at some point.
Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
Im pretty sure he is a different story. JMM dominated him and PAC just thrashed him both times they fought. He may have been on par with JMM and Diaz at his best but he is clearly past his prime. Barrera's last fight was against a guy who was 1-7 now he is stepping up to fight a big skilled Lightweight, so Im not too confident he will be able to pull it off.Asterix wrote:I was really looking forward to Marquez vs Diaz last weekend. Can't believe this fight has come around so fast. I had a dream last night I was watching a RbR of the fight on here and Barrera won in the third. Whatever round it is, Barrera is going to knock Khan into next week. You see that vicious and still-quick left hook to the body Barrera used against Ventura? That's what's going to do in Khan. One left hook, one right hand, Goodnight Vienna. It'll be man against boy.
Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
Ticket came today, which is always good- removes any doubt that they might have cocked up the order or something. I'm down near the front of on of the corner blocks (107) so it's more of a side-on view, but it still should be pretty decent, anyway.

least i was seeing the fight and not staring at a flaming forum page.
Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
It is an exciting fight.
I still resent it being PPV and for that reason hope Barerra puts Khan out of PPV once and for all - but I am looking forward to it.

It looked like that fight might happen until HBO rejected it (bastards). They'd rather have Campbell vs Malignaggi.hitman_hatton1 wrote:i had a dream about seeing zab judah vs nate campbell the other day.![]()

malignaggi over judah.
i know judah ain't what he was but he's still a bit more interesting to watch than paulie.
Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
£15 quid is not going to break the bank here but it feels like being mugged and worse than that it's like some spotty kid in a hood just says give me £15 quid and I just give it to him. I'm not buying it out of self respect.
Enzo will be a good fight so will the Nicky Cook and Bradley Price fights but that's why I pay for Sky Sports to see fights like these not to be ripped off.
Anyway, Barrera manages Khans initial 4 round onslaught and then stops a knackered Khan in the 6th, but I"M NOT PAYING FOR IT!

Remind me who knocked down JMM - Barrera or Diaz? For a light puncher, compared to Diaz in most people's eyes, he did pretty well. 8)

Prescott's power is overrated, Khan's chin is not.crusader wrote:I really don't see this being competitive as a lot of others do. Good to see Rafa is giving the world's best commentary team their due
Dan Rafael @ ESPN
Barrera-Khan will be must-see TV

• I know times are tough economically, but I believe Saturday afternoon's Integrated Sports pay-per-view card (4 ET) from Manchester, England, is worth the $24.95 asking price. The main event is as much of a crossroads fight as you will ever see, as all-time great Marco Antonio Barrera, near the end of his career, tries to stave off the end against Amir Khan, the super prospect about whom there are so many questions after his stunning first-round knockout loss to Breidis Prescott in September. I think it's a fascinating main event. If Khan loses it's a total disaster. If Barrera loses, his already fading career is probably over. But if Khan wins, it's huge. And if Barrera wins, he's back in business for at least another fight.
The supporting fights on the pay-per-view are also interesting. I think Nicky Cook's junior lightweight title defense against Roman Martinez could be a terrific action fight and Enzo Maccarinelli's match with Ola Afolabi for an interim cruiserweight belt could produce some fireworks.
One thing that ought to enhance the telecast is that the U.S. pay-per-view feed will use the same one being used throughout the United Kingdom, where the card will also be televised on pay-per-view by Sky Box Office. I've been watching Sky Sports and Sky Box Office telecasts for years on DVDs, and its broadcast team of Ian Darke and Jim Watt is top-notch. Having them call the action from ringside should make the telecast a whole lot better than having it called in some studio off a monitor somewhere in the United States, where the broadcasters try their best but can't capture the atmosphere or excitement in the same way as if they were ringside.

MAB looks really healthy not passed it at all. i mean the clips of sparing .he still has it in him though. itwill show on saturday.id he works from the inside of khan which he will .one clip on khans china chin which everyone will question on saturday .hes history . i really want MAB to win to prove khan is not suitable for world class figthers.
Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
yeah. people think MAB has passed it though. i mean if people forget that hes been world champ in 3 weights and has lot of expereince to bring to the table. also if anyone watched the sky sports countdown programme. then the sparring MAB was doing was pretty damn good . if khan, like i said get cliped in the chin then MAB will take him out .work from the inside of khan which somthing khan is not used to.i hope MAB wins this so it will show khan with all the hype he has had as a pro boxer has not proven himself after all is not a world class figther.observer1 wrote:Would like to see Khan win, but i reckon Barrera will take it

KHAN will knock MaB out inside 3 rds
Re: BARRERA / KHAN: WHAT A MATCHUP
Barrera is passed it, but hardly that shot.
Khan is on the learning curve and far from the finished article.
Basically 2 guys no where near their peak.
Personally want to see Khan win, but i reckon Barrera will take it.
