Funniest post fight interview ...

Post by somerstown »

My favourites

Holyfield after the Nasher Tyson fight "He just bit ma ear"....

All of the Audley Harrison fights

One of the best was Booth/Robinson. I couldn't stop laughing at Jason Booth and the way he was discribing the fight

Years ago, must have been at least 20 plus, the Midlands Area light heavyweight champion had just knocked someone out sparko live on Central fight night. Talking about the British champion he said on live TV, "I know I could knock that lanky pudendum out. Oops, sorry shouldn't have said pudendum, you can edit that out can:t you?"

I recall Benn after (probably) the Galvano fight.
"For all those people out there who said I couldn't do it, you're not worth a hand-job mate".

along with the appropriate gesture with a partially closed fist.

Oh, Nigel "Gift Of The Gab" Benn. :TU:

Didn't Lennox say something along the lines of; "He can't just walk in there and knock out Lennox Lewis."

He must've punched harder then we thought, coz he just did Lennox mate.

It must be said, Lennox wasn't the most gracious of men in defeat. Anyone who talks about themselves in the 3rd person is also a bit of a tit in my book.

Lennox Lewis, Roy Jones, Audley Harrison, Floyd Mayweather, Zab Judah amongst others do this all the time -What the fornicate is all this about?

It's some sort of plague which is spreading amongst people in sports and media, it must be stamped out!

"j"finds your total disregard towards the great lennox most disresepctful.

"J" would like to request that you remember the grace with which he rules the heavweiught division and not the arrogance.

"j" is thanking you all.

I think him and Grey had some bad blood between them from before.

It kind of reminded me of Nigel Benn's behaviour after the McClellan fight. Nigel plainly didn't give a flying fornicate what was wrong with Gerald, or a toss what anyone had to say.

I think in both cases we can put this down to soaring post-victory testosterone levels.

Definitely, Nige comes accross as a heart on sleeve type of chap and after that fight I guess his adrenaline and endomorphines must have been pumping through him at a rate of knots, am (probably) sure it wasnt intentionally disrespectful.

yeah that fight Benn-McClellan is one of my personal favs, yeah after what happened to McClellan it looks bad on Benn the way he was carrying on but after winning a fight like that I would be pretty fired up and happy

However, one inconsistency I have noted regarding Benn v McClellan.

In two different accounts Benn describes going to the hospital and kissing Gerald McClellan and saying sorry. In one account he says he kissed him on the head, on another he kissed him on the hand.

McClellan's manager at the time, despite having a lot of bad things to say about Gerald, denied ever seeing Benn at his bedside.

I wonder whether in hindsight Benn realised that the fight and his behaviour gave him a bad name in some people's eyes, and sought to redress the balance retrospectively.

Not knocking the man, just an inconsistency I noted.
