This fight aint going to happen, it was all newspaper hype. I asked Stevie the last time I saw him and he just laughed and said that it was nonsense

Check the board of control web-site mate, Mcguire has to fight Anderson by the end of May for his celtic title or he will proberly have to vacate.

It's an excellent match. The scottish title should also be on the line IMO.

I'm very surprised they are (possibly) meeting at this stage. Thought it could be one for the "future" (i.e. they don't get to meet when they are still on the way up  !)

IMO i think they both suit Light Heavy better than super middle, especially Maguire.

It's def a good fight for us, Who ever win's will possibly get a British title shot in there next fight so there is something to gain both will go for it, Mcguire has to win or he is more or less finished, and Anderson has set his sights higher than Celtic title level so he will be very much up for it, I know they fought in the am's with Anderson winning on points although Mcguire was down in round one and two i think. I only see Anderson winning this he's a better all round boxer and a much bigger puncher.

I spoke to Kenny a couple of weeks ago and he said purse bids were 11th February and fight looking likely to take place at Bellahouston on 27th march on Ricky burns, Alex Arthur undercard. I seen it mentioned on britishboxing.net kenny was fighting that night but didnt mention and opponent and not heard anything since then on whether the fight is/isnt happening!!!

Good quality fight and could even be described as a crossroads battle because McGuire may not have anywhere to go if he loses. This would be a solid Celtic title clash so let's hope it comes off.

I think Crossroads might be a bit harsh - McGuire I still feel is learning his trade also.

Personally I think Anderson would win this fight and I reckon it would only be a matter of time before he moves onto a British & Commonwealth title. McGuire if he loses I think would get himself back down the gym work hard and in a year or two be challenging for these titles again, or maybe move up a division as he is a big laddy!!

Confirmed on the BBBOC website

SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT STEVE McGUIRE (Holder) v KENNY ANDERSON
Following the opening of purse bids by the Chairman earlier in the day, the winning bid was submitted by Promoter allegedly. The contest to take place at the Bellahouston Leisure Centre, Glasgow on Friday, 27th March 2009.

The whole night should be a good night of boxing, Burns v Gomez & Arthurs first fight after stepping up a weight - hopefully a couple of others in there too!!

Just read in the news Mcguire has pulled out injured, Anderson will now face Nathen King for the vacant title, pity i was looking forward to this, doubt Mcguire is injured though dont think he wanted to risk another bad loss so soon after Mcgee.
