Nicky Cook vs. Roman Martinez

I don't know anything about Martinez.

Cook is a moderately adaptable, fairly strong (at super feather), very orthodox, stiff guy with a heavy body attack.

I think Soto and Linares will prove to be the class of super featherweight.

I've never seen Martinez fight so I've gone for a blind prediction of Martinez to stop Cook around round 9 or 10 D

Soto, Linares & Guerrero would demolish Cook. I like Cook but as a World champion he's pretty ordinary.

Martinez is not the most technical fighter around, but he is as tough as it gets. He does not have big power but he put a lot of pressure in the other fighter. He get in to wars too much. A good technical fighter with stamina and a chin should be able to outbox him.

yes they would eat him alive. Luevano is just an above average featherweight champ and he outclassed Cook though Luevano was hurt to the body in the middle/late stages.

Martinez's record isn't too impressive. The only recognisable name, Walter Estrada, recently took him the 10-round distance. The same Estrada who last year was stopped in 5 by Kevin Mitchell and just a few weeks ago in about half a minute by Yuri Gamboa. I think Cook will retain - controversially - on points.

Safe ttile defence that sounds hard because Martinez is a Hispanic name - Mexican Mauler! Puerto Rican Puncher! etc - and because he probably brings some glossy record or gaudy stoppage ratio? (not see the guy's record so if anyone wants to call me up on that so be it).

Not sold on Cookie's WBO title reign, not even to make good British fights as the best fight is Mitchell and if they're both trained by Cook's dad and both close then it would be a tricky one.
