Sparred boxing with Michael Bisping, not fun.
I also went 12 rounds with Glenn McCrory, but we were only drinking larger
What does that mean?

Yeah got a bad beating when I was around 17 but 10 lads, a few of whom we went to school with Richie Edwards and James Powell to name a couple. Yip beat the crap out of me with belts, ended up in casualty with a suspected fractured skull and two supscted broken arms.
Funny enough the beating wasn't half as bad as having to face them in court and the lies they told and the shit we got. Oh well never mind, was a long, long time ago now.

Well remembered - I sparred a couple. HE was ancient though, 45 or something, he was planning a comeback. It wasn't back in the day, was in the last 5 years.McCannW14 wrote:I know that "E" who posts on here has sparred with John Mugabi, back in the day.

In reality he was unfit and overweight. And also now a mellow guy. I'm glad he didn't come back (it was going to be at Cruiser in Africa or Australia as I remember.)
I also sparred George Hillyard (talented but fat and seems so disinterested now.) A few other low-level pros and journeymen. Can't remember most of the names just now. I am punch-drunk and red-wine drunk at the moment...!
Re: ANYONE EVER SPARRED WITH A VERY FAMOUS PRO?
My mate Larry sparred Nigel Benn in 2007. I was out of the country so i missed my chance :(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28TmddEjWs8
So all i can come up with a long retired Spencer Fearon. I nearly sparred Anthony Small a few times but it never came to pass.
I think that i may sparred George Hillyard too at some point but i'd only just started boxing so it wouldn't have been anything like a real spar. Shame that his career has stalled so badly - one fight since Oct 07. I met him before he was planning to go pro and he was keen & optimistic (if prone to swerving salads).

Maybe not very famous in the UK, but I sparred with Ole Klementsen (Norwegian) about 10 years ago. He beat seven shades of shit out of me. Nice guy though. I used to play Rugby with his brother.

I remember Ole! Tall skinny puncher, lost to Robin Reid at the Olympics, flattened Crawford Ashley up at light-heavy for the European title. Wore his hair up in bunches -- always thought that was a very classy look.
What? I always thought Tony Collins looked kinda cool with that hair-do as well, especially with the sparkly black shorts combo.
Niiiice.

Lennox,
You must have sparred Buster and Ryan as well ?
You probably missed it cos there were that many in the ring at the same time.
What about Jason Collins ?
My mind plays tricks on me, but were you around when Darren Sutherland was there ?

Hillyard, i saw him fight on a Howard Eastman card ringside drop a bad decision to Marcus Portman, fat but very talented! How did you find him? Looks like he could be a top fighter if he wasn't so lazy.
Did Mugabi have any punch left?
