I'm about three stone over my last fighting weight. If I had 10-12 weeks of training, I'd knock Couch spark out.007 wrote:Nah.J wrote:jane couch would salp you about like she was your daddy (eeer or is that mummy) mate and you know it.007 wrote:No way, b1tches just arent strong enough. Word.
I normally wouldnt say this about a woman, but she is so ugly, I make an exception.

Your about 6 ft 7 1/2ins and 14 stone? You should play basketball.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I doubt Couch could kick my arse, I'm about a foot taller than her and about 4 Stone heavier. Mind you, wouldn't like to test my theory too much.

Hmm, one wonders, in a boxing match, probably not, if I got her in a headlock i could probably just make her pass out and then stomp on her head whilst she was unconscious. However, she might bite my throat out before it got that far.
Let's face it, even with 7 1/2 inches on her, (in more ways than one) I would be so unfit that even if I managed to avoid her belting the shit out of me, after a few rounds I'd be wheezing like an asthmatic accordian and probably die of heart failure.
I really need to try and get into some sort of shape again before I'm too old. I've considered joining a gym just to do the training, but It could be embarrasing being told I'm just a hopeless case.

Get training, the more you do the better it gets.
I havent fought for about 8 or nine years and have done little or no training in the intervening period.
Three weeks ago I started running, skipping, hitting the bag, a bit of weights and push ups. I feel fitter already.
At first i was breathing out of my arse, but I much better already.
Go for it.

Footy I hate, mainly because I am shite. Never played squash, I used to play badminton and Tennis years ago, might give Squash a go, but don't have a racket.
I cycle 10 miles a day, and do some light weights, but running just bloody kills me for some reason. I used to be an excellent sprinter when I was young, but I've always found long distance running murderous on the knees.
Used to do 30 minutes cycling on the exercise bike at full pelt in the gym, followed by a 10 minute row, and then an hour weights, so nothing wrong with me ticker, but running for a bus the other day, I felt positively decrepit.
I'd love to get a decent punchbag and just give it a good caining every night for 3 rounds, that would help I think.

Maybe I just hit to hard, or Im just a bit of a wuss, I dunno you decide.
anytime mate just let me know so i can book a court up.

It would help, but I'd try 6 x 3 rounds on the bag. Working on a Heavy bag is a great all round excercise. Good for your cardio, upper body strength and works the legs too if you move around enough.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Footy I hate, mainly because I am shite. I've got an empty basement room in my office. I leave the bag up and have an old wooden floor to skip on and got some old weights I've had for years. It does me a treat. Stick the radio on and you are away.
I run twice a week through some fields near my home, not far, maybe 20 minutes with a couple of hills for sprinting.
I seem to be getting fitter but weigh the same. Is it age or what?

I tell you something. At Christmas, I was 15 Stone in weight, and flabby as fornicate, was starting to get the physique of Lawrence Llewellywn Bowen, and I thought, "this is taking the piss, at this rate, the only tits I am going to be feeling in the near future, will be my own."
I joined the gym, and went hell for leather for a month, nothing happened at first, but i changed my diet, stopped eating bread and pasta, lots of fresh steamed veg, fish, lean meat, lots of water, and generally really improved my diet. Also cut out alcohol for a month.
I stopped going to the gym after a month, and started cycling to and from work every day, and then suddenly the weight started to fall off me, I went down all the way to 13st, which I hadn't weight since I was about 25 (I'm 33 now).
The strange thing is, even though I don't do any weights now, my muscle tone has improved a lot, and I feel much stronger. I'm not as big as i was last year when I weight trained hard for 8 months, but not that far off it.
Changing my diet drastically seems to have had a profound and lasting effect on my body for the better, and even though I don't get that much exercise I still look fairly trim.
I think I'm going to have give it 3 months of hard yakka and see what happens.
I wish I had room for a punchbag, but I don't simple as.

I think the reason your a good cyclist and not runner is because they each require strengt in different leg muscles. Running on concrete also does your knees in but it could be part technique (perhaps too flat footed?)jamesmcdonnell wrote:Footy I hate, mainly because I am shite. Bike riding is good, but it sounds like you are fit anyway.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I tell you something. I'm 5'8 and 14 stone, I eat loads of carbs, bread, spuds, pasta,I always feel full up.
I'll try to stick to lean meat, fish, fruit and veg, and limit my carbs to a bowl of porridge in the morning. Basically try and cut down on bread, spuds, and pasta and see how it goes.
Was it hard stopping drinking for a month?

Belive it or not I do 3 weeks twice a year off the pop (that apparently is the approx time it takes for your liver to detox fully). I have to say its the most dull 6 weeks of the year, but I do it pre my bday in early oct, so then have the run up to xmans in cluding my bday, and January 5=26 th which funnily enough is payday!!!

Bloody murder. Thing is though, I've got used to eating a healthy diet, and if I stay in, I find it very easy not to drink. Once I head out the front door however, It's game over, so weekends tend to be a bit intense.knockout artist wrote:Bike riding is good, but it sounds like you are fit anyway.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I tell you something. I since found out I was allergic to wheat anyway, and since I stopped eating it, the weight seems to stay pretty much the same.
You need carbs in your diet, but only as much as your exercise demands. If you sit on your ass all day, you don't need that many carbs. I eat a lot of protein at the moment, and no I am not on the atkins diet, as I eat tonnes of fresh veg.
